This is accurate. At my local casino all the regulars know each other. We'll still try to win, but it's so much easier winning money from a player we haven't seen before. Sometimes I'll fold a pretty good hand if I see a couple of other regulars interested in the hand. It's not collusion, but playing smart.
Pay attention at any table on which players are chatting friendly with one another, and especially players who arrive together. Also, if you see players arrive dressed in suits, chances are very high they've just come from a conference and 90% of the time have no idea how to play.

It wasn't until I saw this that I realized what had happened in the card room in Ocean's 11. I appreciate the subtlety.

This isn't a scam... it's a hustle. A very big difference. A scam would be if the dealer was in on it and they had no chance of losing. They're just better than all the tourists.

Edward Norton's character in the movie was really unlikeable and annoying. I know that he was deliberately written by the scriptwriter to be like that, but still... his character just leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

Edward Norton did a great job in this film. He portrays a real creep and con artist so that we actually believe he’s a real creep and con artist.

Fun Facts: The "facial tick'' guy and "the way a cig is smoked" guy are the screenplay writers of this movie. They and Ed Norton did one of the commentarys on the DVD and it is hilarious!! I highly recommend it.

I love how poker players think it’s all about the brains. Cards are flipped, so luck is involved. Chess is a game with no luck.

This scene is an artistic representation of the relationship between big corporations and consumers.

Reality - professional poker players prey on the weak. They can't make a living playing against good players. They need fish to survive.

By right you can form a government with 52% votes. And those 48% opposition they are living in hell because they have something else in mind. If 90% of UK become muslims they definitely want a muslim King. If 10% of Iran become Christians, they will setup new law to stop that.

Really really good bit acting in this scene. The one shot characters are really nicely composed. You get such a sense of who they are and why they can’t win.

I hate poker movies they are such a joke. None of this is true.

Petra is a degen like him. He didn't want to be with someone like himself, because he hated himself. This is why he ends up in Vegas alone. He knows that is his only possible destiny.
