Wicked Movie Review

I seen this movie about a month. Didn't see the WOKE content in this movie. I was a bit skeptical about this flick and I felt it was outstanding. I know when you was referring to the timing about the movie. I felt you was in an odd mood, and was not prepared to watch this movie.

I can't get pass the comments with Cynthia.

You're giving no context to this "wild animal" comment. I think you just don't want people to like her. I think you're a little bit red pill or a lot a bit

So you liked the original with a talking lion and scarecrow but had a problem with talking animals in wicked. Make it make sense.

I can not forgive

Oh well sir, I haven't seen the movie yet. I am planning to though. I been seen other reviews of critics they overall had a positive experience. HMM to each is each own.

im confused with wicked the world is going crazy over this crap but with the color purple and the joker 2 people were posting storming out the theater and upset with musicals and all that. i love musicals i just have a disliking for Cnythia and Ariana i wont watch or listen 2 anything those 2 ever do

I’m a big fan of the Wizard of Oz but I didn’t like the play. However, I thought the movie version was fabulous. The movie’s trying to tie everything back to the wizard of OZ. For example, the Tin man, Lion and Scarecrow were featured in this movie. Jon Chu was dropping hints of the wizard of Oz all over the film. I think the questions are was Glinda truly “good?” Was the wicked witch of the west truly “evil?” I believe most of this film is from the stage play.

No sorry did not like the musical movie. It was not good. We guess a matter of cultures. We did not enjoy none of those actors. Thats our opinion. We give it a , zero.

The movie is phenomenal! I'm a fan of the musical. It is about talent..,actors, choreographer, set design, Cinematography. Etc. I don't agree with his Critique. Please see the movie on your own. Ice been in The arts all my life, theater, musicals, opera and film. I'm also a minister for those who have issues with the word "witches".

Film is subjective and hits everyone different but wow your take was definitely in the minority.

Wicked was fantastic and I'm not the target audience. Thats why the box office is breaking records.

I really liked Wicked. This coming from a person that has never seen the musical. I still don't care much for the music, but they sound great, and look spectacular.

What I really like about the movie is the political philosophy of it all. So many themes touched on egs: Dangers of populism, the stupidity often of the masses, perceptions, why critical thinking skills are important, the appeal to authority fallacy etc, etc....

Thanks for calling this movie real af this was the best review I’ve seen so far hands down! Also we’ve got talking goats nanny bears and rainbow fields all things strange but a green woman is a deal breaker 😂 it just makes no sense!

I saw the movie and agree with everything you said! Didn't care for it at all!

Cynthia Erivo was pretty amazing, and I loved her, but I still thought that Ariana Grande stole the show. That being said, I have seen the stage musical twice, and I think the character of Glinda always steals the show. It's partly just the way the show is written. Glinda has the best lines, IMO. Yes, she's a self-centered brat, but she's also funny and likeable. In part 2, she won't get her way.

Thr book us way superior make the fucking musical and this kiddy movie the book has way darker tones and dosent pull its punches

The preview looked good, so my family we bought tickets. I am not a fan of Cynthia Erivo. This is the only movie I have ever bought a ticket for with Cynthia Erivo in it.

I respectfully disagree with you. I usually hate musicals, but this one hit different. I took my 12yr old daughter to see this movie. I had to go back to see it again by myself because the singing was amazing. This is the movie of the year.

I think that you would enjoy the play.

The film certainly won't work for everyone but it doesn't change that it was a well made film version of the stage play. The performances are great, the cinematography was on point.

I enjoyed it far more than Gladiator 2! I’m stoked for part 2 next November!

This movie was fantastic. Period. The witch was GREEN. Green represents whatever YOUR percieved impediment is. And if your percieved impediment is your race that's a personal issue. This sounds like projection. And honestly this reviewers decription of the dimming of her light because people looked at her strange actually succeeded its point. Whatever your "green or other" is was triggered.

I personally feel like this movie is very healing. But If you arent a fan of magical whimsy its not for you.

I’m not a fan of either actress. Erivo reportedly was paid $1 million vs. Grande’s $15 million. 🤔

Wicked the book and the stage play is Woke . If you really did the research like you say. Wicked is about racism, propaganda, and animal rights. These are the themes of the wicked .

The story was woke before woke became a thing. The book came out in 1995 and the musical came out in 2003. How on earth is it woke?

Cynthia is not talented at all

I just listened to your post, and the part about disliking Cynthia Erivo says more about Americans' ignorance and arrogance than about her comments. While trying to find out what she said, I fell down a rabbit hole about ADOS (American Descendants of Slavery). I was still left wondering: was their anger directed at her because she isn’t African American (assuming she doesn’t have a historical link to slavery and that only Americans are unique in that experience), or because she is Nigerian (whose forefathers may have had a connection to the slave trade)?

Considering that less than 10% of all enslaved people were sent to North America, it seems rather ill-informed to assume that only African Americans can talk about the experience. Unlike in North America, slavery in the Caribbean was largely unchecked—look up the ‘Derby Dose.’

Based on this review it sounds like if you haven’t read the book series or seen the play this movie isn’t for you. I’ve done both and can’t wait to see it with my mother. It’s unfortunate to hear that it wasn’t filmed in a way that newcomers can understand all the many plot lines Wicked contains.

I appreciate your intake on the film, I don’t think I’ll go out and watch. If it pops up on one of my streaming services sure, but I’m not going out of my way to watch it.

I did watch the play when I was in high school and I loved the play, I’ve currently finished the 1st book of Wicked series and I might leave it there cause in all honesty it’s a hard book for me to get through. but yeah the wicked witch’s mama got around in the 1st book and she was quite a monstrous baby.

If it’s too long, too woke and all over the place. 1/2 hr and I’m gone!

Glad you enjoyed what you could. Admittedly this is a girl's film, and my wife loved it.

Being a fan of the play does make aa big difference in your personal enjoyment.

I’m way too educated and artistic NOT to see the racism in these stupid-ass movies. Don’t take your little brown girls to see this garbage, please. Better yet—go research the history of Hollywood and black imagery. It’s 2025. Sambo-ing is cut off!

I don’t care I like this movie. “Woke” wasn’t the issue. Yes it was simi woke, yes racial undertones , yes it has gays in it. And I still walked out loving it . Hell I cried in some parts. Watch the movie for yourself and make your own decision if you like it or not.
