I'm 26 years old and I live with my parents - and I absolutely love it. We share a large property, which means I can take on a lot of household responsibilities and help out in the garden. My parents aren’t getting any younger, and I genuinely hope they'll be able to spend the rest of their lives here. It's more of a shared living arrangement than anything else, where everyone contributes. We balance each other’s weaknesses and support one another in every way we can.

Each of us has our own space in the house, so it never feels crowded. In fact, it’s the most fulfilling way of living I can imagine. When I went through a very dark time with depression, they supported me in ways I’ll never forget. I don’t feel like I owe them - but I do want to give something back. That plays a role too.

I get that some people might find this setup unusual. It’s not the standard lifestyle. But all I can say is: we all benefit from each other, I get to spend my days with the people I love most, and we’re able to maintain a place we deeply care about - together. I don’t live with my parents. I live alongside them.
