Hi, is this ORBX London City airport only or do you also have other addon scenery for London?

nice and interesting video, it seem SkymaxxPRO will come with an update compatible with Vulcan, maybe that will helps in the frame rate and/or rendering ....... thank you

Vsync under Linux makes user events (i.e. mouse drags, hat switch button) lag by about a tenth of a second. Turning it off gets rid of the lag. I've reported the issue as a bug to Laminar Research.

You can go direct to settings Without first going to Flight Configuration. Just go to the top right of the screen!

Hope this is not too irrelevant, but coming from the FSX world, my biggest frame rate killer was AI traffic. Are the airplanes I see on the ground AI traffic or static models? I notice that nobody talks much about the impact of AI traffic on the sim, so I wonder if everybody is using static models instead of real AI traffic. The biggest issues that keep me away from X-Plane are poor AI traffic, poor ATC, and no seasons. While FSX didn't completely nail AI traffic and ATC, I loved how the skies were filled with traffic, and you could hear all the gen av, airline and military traffic on the radios. If frame rates are this mediocre with little to no AI traffic, even with Vulcan, looks like X-Plane has a long way to go.

Me , on my computer Vulkan loads very wrell but it is not always efficient. Sometimes I get ordinary frame rates , I quit x-plane , then restart this time vulkan will tremendously increase my frame rate on the same scene with the same aircraft. Is is the instability of the beta that causes this or what ?

Hi Luna great helpfull video, are you using any 3rd party addons with these test. I'm using Orbx EGLC + Orbx TrueEarth Great Britain all in VR ( Oculus Rist S ) to test.
System Spec: GTX 1080Ti , AMD Ryzen 7 3800X overclocked to 4.3Ghz and Corsair Vengence 3200 RAM (16gb). grapichis in game Vaulkn are set to medium. It's taking over 15 minutes from starting the game to being in the cockpit.....then it crashes every time...without vr its in the 65 fps..in vr its at 42fps..but then i have to send the crash report...now send 12 of them...

Don't know much about Vulcan but I thought it was supposed to speed up frame rates, especially with VR, maybe there needs to be more testing done?

Interesting analysis there, it seems it's taking away at least 15fps which doesn't seem worth it, especially for VR

You may look foward to fs2020 it runs better with good visuals.Seeing no reports of performance on their wish list on their page indicates how well optimized the new sim is!

Very good video, one thing to note, it matters what plane you fly. I tried several planes and the more digital gauges, the lower my frame rate. Seems 3rd part vendors need to optimize add ons. The Eclispe 550 from Aerobask, eats up at least 10 to 15 frames for me, turned off the digital displays and my frame rate shot up.

I never bother with Vsync. My monitor has a refresh rate of 120Hz, there is simply no way the sim frame rate will ever get anywhere near that. The reflections looked ok, a bit unrealistic at times in my opinion but the price is way too steep for me. I drive a 43 inch ultra wide and I am already down to 28FPS in London with Orbx maxed out without reflections. I think in your case 30FPS is perfectly flyable though and its probably worth having the reflections on.

If you look at the data output, you can see it's the CPU that's the bottleneck for you, not the GPU. CPU sits at around ~0.03 (*1000 = 30fps). You should disable your cloud plugin and try again, it might be the reason your CPU usage per frame is so high.

Still not fixed after a long time: Sawtooth shadows, poor surface reflections, unconvincing clouds, washed out scenery colours, still rather poor frame rates, ridiculous ground steering and instability, wallowy flight models in small aircraft, pitch control too twitchy, too much "bounce" in pitch after strong pull or push on joystick. I just don't understand why so many say X Plane's core flight model is "better" than FSX or P3d. It isn't. It's just a myth created by X plane staff and people who either are not pilots, or by pilots who don't understand what a sim can achieve with decent flight modelling, but believe the hype.

Thanks :-)

I am having a weird issue with Vulcan in that my ground tiles at range before they fully load in flicker like crazy at times. No idea what is causing it and with Vulcan disabled it stops. No Ortho or any scenery installed asides from default.

Honestly I can't understand how your CPU stuggles 3x more than your GPU to render static scenery. Same on my rig (Ryzen 9 3950x RTX 2080 Ti). This doesn't make sense at all, they need to do a big CPU performance pass soon.

Nearly all these videos of X-Plane run with no shadows and most with little or no reflections. Personally I don't really want to run any flight simulator where I have no reflections and no shadows. If all you do is fly at 30,000 in airliners I suppose its OK but otherwise not good enough when I have an i9 and 2080 and 32 gigs.

Ответить

Your frame rates are changing more because of the time of day you keep changing, not the reflections, you need to do the comparison at the same time of day.

Vulkan doesn't make sense to me I have a GTX 1060 3gb (not bad but not the best) when I increase the graphics over medium, I run out of memory and the sim crashes unlike on OpenGL where I can have a much higher settings without a crash, the textures on Vulkan are for some reason super blurry like worse than OpenGL on minimum, whats the point? they added Vulkan for better performance but if the people on medium specs like me who need that extra fps boost have to run the sim in that crappy state and hope to god that the sim doesn't run out of vram then whats the point I can do that on OpenGL (decrees the settings) and it will still look better and give me the same fps boost, like really what's the damn point if the guys who need fps boost cant benefit from the engine...
