I switched to custom mechanicals before the pandemics, and I went for ergonomic split keyboards, since I started to have pain in my wrists, because I use my computer for more then 10h a day. I built first a Corne with presoldered pcbs, and then I took the plunge and made a couple of keyboards on my own from scratch, printing the pcb, the case, ordering the electronics and soldering it on my own ... now, I don't only have a customized keyboard, but it's my creation since I made it from scratch and my wrist pain dissapeared long ago!!
Ответитьi just built my first keyboard today, and it turned out fantastic, but one note to anyone looking to build one, when someone says dont overtighten a screw, like really dont, even if you dont damage anything, i kept getting this clicking sound on the left side, turns out it was the white plastic layer on the pc plate, so after a lot of trial and error, a lot of error mainly... i found out i just needed to loosing the screw slightly and it was fine, my brain was like these tolerances are so bad it destroyed my expensive keytboard, but no, just user error, so yea be careful on how you tighten screw, dont go until they stop
ОтветитьAgainst key-loggers, anti-instrusion would be cool... don't trust 4 - 5am cleaners in a top-tier, banking, corporate company... coolest keyboard I saw, was an israeli solid metal plate... flush... and only needed a light tap...
ОтветитьDoesn't matter if it's a $1000 keyboard or a $100 keyboard, humans get used to whatever they have and feel neutral about things after that initial high. As long as the keyboard isn't bad, you are good to go.
Ответитьthe little white spec in his hair is murder
Ответитьfor those who dont know, mech keyboards came back over a decade ago btw, this isnt recent. they got popular/went mainstream due to gaming.
ОтветитьHard to find mechanical keyboard with all the keys used in the Brazilian ABNT2 layout...
ОтветитьWon’t lie, he straight up looks like MKBHD’s younger, slightly under disciplined brother.
ОтветитьThe motion design is master class
ОтветитьThe height of nerdiness 😅
ОтветитьMechanical keyboards, Fountain pens. Leather hand-bound journals. Messenger bags. Satchels. "City bikes" with baskets, Fuji X100. It's all the same really isn't it? Fetishising one particular physical object that has a sort of pseudo link back to a perceived simpler time, usually in a hands of a generation that wasn't quite there in that simpler time to verify if it's accurate or not. Which of course is nonsense, but it's a useful marketing spiel and makes people feel good, which is what all consumerism is at the end of the day. I assure you, when we had these stupid massive noisy keyboards that we were forced to use because there was no choice, we didn't sit in wonder at the key travel. We typed! But that's not the point. It's a hobby, like any other - a way to spend your time and disposable income.
It's of note that I've never seen a mechanical keyboard fanatic who actually uses it all day, every day for a living. As in, a writer. I'm not one either, but they're incredibly irritating to use long term and actually pretty antisocial. There is a teeny part of it that the last person you should ask about a good keyboard is someone that has more than one. In the same way that people that have "gaming chairs" are in no way qualified to talk about comfortable seats. The interview with Taeha Types is actually quite representative. A Herman Miller Aeron chair is a pretty standard chair in any office. There are actually lots of much more comfortable chairs on the market, but they don't have that allure or brand recognition. It's not 100% about function, nor should it be really.
Anyway, i digress. Nice video.
I had no idea mechanical keyboards got so expensive or customized. I am a writer and a gamer so I do love a mechanical keyboard but I got one from Amazon and it does light up like a rainbow lol.
Ответить"That's the end of my keyboard journey" I said, after getting a Jlab keyboard, but before trying a 1989 IBM Model M.
The Jlab was not the endgame keyboard that I thought it was.
I liked this vid because of your editor part haha.
ОтветитьKeychron user here. It's basically good enough for me.
ОтветитьGood advertising. I liked how you sold that.
ОтветитьMake a video about note taking
ОтветитьI miss my old Logitech membrane keyboard, which I replaced with a mechanical keyboard. You can build a custom mechanical keyboard as a hobby, but if you're not into keyboards, I believe this is just more consumerism rather than productivity.
Ответитьwhat a loser
ОтветитьIf you want to go further you should try split mechanical keyboards! Just saying 😜
ОтветитьThat Valorant bronze lobby struck home 😭
ОтветитьI did not know Shopify owned a Shop. Been using Shop for years.
ОтветитьTaha he’s coming and he’s coming fast
ОтветитьWhat is the name of that last keyboard you had? I love the look of the white keys
Ответитьi love how they use every sponsor they get and use it in the research or theme they have for the video
ОтветитьI discovered Switch&Click and HipyoTech couple years ago and I own now couple of keyboards in a Linear, Clicky, and Tactile version. It´s a cool hobby and it´s a distracting type of relaxation after a long day of studying and working.
Ответитьi would pay $1000 only for an ergonomic split keyboard. rectangular ones? pfft
ОтветитьWhy is glarses not making him desolder switches from another board??? Where’s the fun? Why isn’t glarses a bully anymore?
ОтветитьPowerful video, bro! Thanks for the education.
ОтветитьPersonally I moved away from mechanical boards except for when I'm gaming because I just prefer the efficiency of chicklet keyboards for typing.
ОтветитьThe hardware is one thing but wait for the rabitthole called „Layout“ Bum Bum ba!
ОтветитьDoes anyone know where and whether I can find a store for mechanical keyboards in Seoul?
ОтветитьAll that modding just to come second rate to a topre keyboard.
ОтветитьThis is my first video I've seen of yours. Its amazing. Such great quality.
ОтветитьThank you for this video. This is the perfect video for me to share with my family and friends to explain why I have a new found hobby and so many keyboards. The only thing I would add about this hobby is that like any other hobby will have Elitists with that condescending elitists attitudes to new comers (hobbyists and budget options). I hope this hobby doesn't spawn more bad apples and discourages others to try out the hobby.
ОтветитьComing up on 50 years at various keyboards—including actual mechanical typewriters and IBM Selectrics—and I definitely do not see the "benefit" of mechanical keyboards. Snark at me as a Boomer if you must, but I think that Apple has done a tremendous job on everything except the durability of the keycaps, which wear through in just a few years.
But with the exception of the "butterfly" keyboards, Apple has done an amazing job of making comfortable, quiet, and gently tactile keyboards that have served me perfectly.
I mean … the original Mac keyboards were LOUD and only just OK, but having used keyboards from HP, Apple, Sun, and some "specialty" manufacturers for as long as "personal computers" have been a thing, I keep coming back to Apple's "cheap sheet of rubber" for fast, comfortable, quiet, and above all, trouble-free typing.
Here's how you can tell that blue switches are the best: they're overwhelming the ones that are sold out.
Ответитьboi golly am i glad for this kind of video cuz. i have been staring at so many mechanical keyboards and without being able to Hold one in my hands is a lot tougher to understand what things. Mean
ОтветитьI just want a reliable keyboard that is comfortable to type on and most of all, Doesn't Chatter! It's hard to find that in any mechanical keyboard.
ОтветитьHaving used the original mechanical keyboards ("Back in the day"), they were loud, but much more pleasant to type with
The important thing people don't get is that nowadays membranes can be loud, and mechanical can be quiet
Is Glasses russian?
Ответитьis glarses expert? hmmmm
