KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Commissioner of Police, Major General Antony Anderson has given directions that a policeman seen in a viral video in a “compromising position” be interdicted with immediate effect.

The video has been making the rounds on social media. The policeman, who was dressed in uniform, was recorded doing a sexual act in what appears to be the back of a motor car.

The constabulary's Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) says the Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau (IPROB), has launched an investigation into the activities captured on video.

A man who insisted on breaching COVID-19 protocols and berated police officers in an expletive-laden tirade at the Hellshire beach in St Catherine over the weekend is expected to be arrested.

Senior Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay, head of the Jamaica Constabulary Force's Corporate Communications Unit, said the man will be arrested on Monday.

"He will be prosecuted," Lindsay told Loop News.

"In order to de-escalate the situation, (the police officers) left but they warned him for prosecution, we know where he is on the Hellshire beach. However, in order not to create a more explosive situation, they didn't arrest him at the same time," Lindsay said, adding "The beaches are closed but people are blatantly refusing to comply, so we will do what we have to do."

The maskless man's four-minute rant, in which not even Prime Minister Andrew Holness was spared from being subjected to a tongue lashing, was captured on video and has gone viral on social media.

The incident has sent shockwaves throughout a nation grappling with the current spike in coronavirus cases that has resulted in normal life being disrupted for almost a year.
