Phillip Schofield hits out at critics amid TV return

Phillip Schofield has responded to his critics in a trailer for his new Channel 5 series. The former This Morning presenter has made a return to the small screen in Phillip Schofield: Cast Away, will see the presenter marooned alone on a tropical island off the coast of Madagascar.

Phillip, 62, left his role at ITV in 2023 in the wake of revelations of an "unwise but not illegal" affair with a much younger male colleague. He also stepped down from all of his public-facing jobs – including being an ambassador for the Prince's Trust. On Instagram, he described his new show as his "story of survival, both on a desert island and off it", reports The Mirror.

In the teaser, Phillip says to camera: "I've been cast away on a desert island, completely on my own, all I have is camera gear, and I can say whatever I want about whatever I want. It's my chance to tell my side of my story." He then asks: "I know what I did was unwise, but is it enough to absolutely destroy someone?"
