Training flexibility of my chest is part of my routine. On this dive I blow out all the air I can but I keep some in my cheeks and upper throat for equalizing the mask. The pressured humming is when I transfer some residual volume air that I cant normally blow out by forceful ab contraction. To dive like this took a few years of regular practice from very shallow(1-2 m) to gradually deeper water to be able to do this. The technique is safe if you do it in small increments over a few years!!!!!!!. It took me perhaps 80 dive sessions over 5 years of 5-20 dives during each session to train this. Trying to accomplish this in a week will probably end up in disaster for your lungs or ears, or even blackout. Very important: 1. have a competent buddy watch you. 2. use a rope and lanyard( listen to the lanyard rattling against the rope on my ascent with each pull), 3. Incremental progress!!!, 4. and be sure to take many weights off because you sink quick with empty lungs and a normal weight belt, 5. practice dry exhale apnea before you test in a pool and then progress to the sea. 6. Do not push till it hurts your chest - stop - if you feel any pain go up to where there is less pressure - the dives should be comfortable - it come with practice.
