THE START of SERIES 10! • Competitive Pokemon VGC Series 10 Wi-Fi Battles

Series 10 seems kinda boring for me from the very start. Ofcourse it's a new tactical approach with non dynamax, but it's basically Ursh Eleki Incin and Rillaboom on every team + 1 restricted and typically 1 support mon. Dynamax had so much more to offer, especially regarding in-depth tactics and synergies.

QOTD: Series 10 has been very fun for me on Showdown and I like building without Dynamax in mind right now. Calyrex Shadow seems very strong for now, but I predict it to be the first restricted to have a big fall in usage.

QOTD: Fake out and priority seem to be the big threats I've seen and bulk seems to be better than a quick sweeper at this point. But without the base power increase in a lot of moves thanks to Dynamax, most pokemon are now pretty easy to handle and to calc for. I've also found that because of the weaker HP values and attacks, its easier to get gimmicks off in matches in this series and have them work out in matches.

Overall, I'm liking it, but mostly cause it let's me do things like make a team around a Skill Swap Prankster Registeel with Rest and having it work more often than not.

Qotd: Dynamax accelerated games so much, these longer games are a ton more fun/interesting

Not qotd, just a thought. New pokemon ability... Mesmerize, like intimidate but -1 sp. Atk.

QOTD: Love Series 10 so far! I'm 8-2 on ladder with a Zacian rental team from VictoryroadVGC. I think the lack of dynamax allows for much more diverse decision making and mix ups. Switching is more prevalent and I love how much more variety we see in terms of speed control (without Max Airstream).

As far as content goes, I absolutely loved your Intro to Series 10 video! It got me interested in the game again as I haven't really played since series 8

It seems to be an very interesting and tactical format.
I started to play competetive VGC in Generation 8, so it is my very first experience with a format without dynamax, which will be like learning the game, almost from scratch, which makes me very nervous.
I hope I can adapt quick and can enjoy this format, because i am also very excited to try out something new.

QOTD: My feelings are mixed. When it was announced I was overjoyed at the prospect of a no-Dynamax format, and playing on Showdown I've definitely been having fun. But the number of broken things in this format - Zacian, Calyrex, Kyogre, Xerneas, Urshifu, Rillaboom, Regieleki, and more - really tempers my enjoyment.

Urshifu, especially, since it outright breaks the rules of doubles given that you can neither Protect against it nor Intimidate it.

Early Series 10 Impression - I understand why all of the veteran players didn't like dynamax. It's so nice not having to track all of the boosts or be afraid of weakness policy. The game feels a lot more strategic and focused on pivoting for good late game positioning.

When you mentioned the 2009 Empoleon & Toxicroak combo/pair i wonder how does it work out? 🤔 (having hard time to imagining it in my head 😅)

Early impressions I'm not really enjoying the format. It's super limited in the pokemon u can use unless your just throwing. I actually think dynamax made the format more balanced.

Vgc is so much better without dynamax

This new format is the most fun I've had playing competitive since they retconned mega pokemon. It is very similar to mega pokemon now that I think about it. Picking one pokemon that is much stronger to build your team around. I'm hoping this is some 5head foreshadowing for the rumors about megas in the DPP remake. It's the only way they can save it. As I heard it, toy stores received a ledger of the names of toys coming out with DPP. I dont remember if it called them megas but every figure was one that had a mega and then there were some sinnoh pokemon. I'm not one to believe something so anecdotal but I've bought every single pokemon game, from Red on my game boy, hunching over with a light in order to see the screen at 8, to being so incredibly disappointed in the sheer lack of care that went into these newest games. I dont want to have to pirate a franchise I've supported since before I had my own money. But I'm not buying this new one until CITRA has a working copy lol

QOTD: Not enjoying it so far, the existence of the restricted pokemon limits team-building a lot and without dynamax you can't circumvent that nearly as much

Hello to the content creator and the community behind him, I am new to VGC but not new to pokemon at all. If there is anybody here that would be able to help By giving me some tips on how to train these pokemon effectively or what teams to use for this series it would be much appreciated

I put a choice scaf on my Regieleki. Out speeds almost everything still when the opponent uses Tailwind.

I feel silly asking this, especially since i havent finished the video yet, but what is a "now ego?" It sounds like a move/ combination of moves possibly, but whenever I look it up I just find stuff about a pokemon episode. I don't really know anything about sword/shield either, so maybe that's part of the problem.
