Why the AK47 is a superior wespon. The gas is routed directly to the piston head. Shoving it back with far less power loss.
Not to mention the toght tolerances. Again totally inefficient. Prone to jamming when slightly dirty.

Dwell time is the amount of time that the gas is having any kind of an effect whatsoever on your firearms operating system. It is not only the amount of time between the entry of the gas port to the end of the muzzle. That is a common misconception and it is not true.

ОтветитьGood video, but you failed to state that during the dwell time the carrier is moving. The cam groove in the carrier acts upon the cam pin that passes thorough the bolt body. This rotates the bolt to allow unlocking at the point the vent holes uncover.

ОтветитьMatt, while the gas does impart a force onto the BCG, it simultaneously does it to the bolt. this forward force is maintained as the BCG moves rearward, and relieves the pressure on the bolt lugs as the rotate and unlock from battery

ОтветитьDwell time is NOT the amount of time the bullet spends between the gas port and the muzzle its how long the gas takes to start the action cycle. Were measuring gas time not bullet time. The longer the has system the longer the gas takes to get to the bolt and vice versa. Thats why a carbine gas system has the most pressure getting into the action because it is retaining the most energy because of the short pathway.
ОтветитьDwell time isnt really much of a thing anymore. I remember they said you have to have thia barreof a barrel and gas hole in this spot or it wonr cycle rright. Well now and days all those issues have been ironed out
ОтветитьThe amazing part is that the gas both moves die bolt carrier back, while pressing die bolt itself forward. You could say it both unlocks with gas and delays the unlocking with gas!

ОтветитьThis is the key to the Stoner internal piston system. It keeps all the recoil energy inline with the shooter's shoulder as well, making felt recoil minimal. The original AR video kinda skipped over this, so I'm glad to see this going into more detail!
