is'nt that an Arial Atom with the motorcycle engine swaped for a electric motor ?

An unmodified ariel atom could almost beat that lambo look at the weight difference. I'm building an elctric car conversion but this was hardly a fair test. 

The lambo was on the outside curve? Plus the lambo is a stock that probably costs less than the x1.

alternators power car:  battery, lights, dash, raidio, & computer, if your electric car had an array of alternators it could last the daytona 500.

that's not any type of NASCAR

Do a timed lap.... So the other car could race without the Atom in the way. And also, do more than one lap. Tests weighted in the Atom X1's favour.

NASCARs don't do standing starts.
It would have been interesting to see how the two cars compared with a 50mph rolling start...

No mention of the X1's range I notice.
As great as it is, nobody wants a car that has no range and then takes hours to refill 'the tank'.

I especially liked what they said at the end about efficiency. You may have all of that power on tap, but in an electric vehicle you only use the energy that you're using, as opposed to trucking around a v8 engine, which will get poor gas mileage even at low speeds. I guess the two cons of electric vehicles are that they are limited in range and not as exciting to drive. Its the same thing with gas powered vs electric powered RC cars, the electric ones are faster yes but the gas ones are much more fun.

Electric cars are cool but isn't lithium in the batteries bad for people and environment? Also he said it needs a 220 outlet to recharge. So it's drawing some serious power. Burn more coal and oil, uranium to make more electric for charging more batteries.

This seems like an infomercial for electric cars. After watching it's like wow how come we all done drive electric cars. I love how they make it seem so easy to charge at "any 220 volt outlet". Most 220 outlets are in basements maybe one behind a stove. Maybe in a garage if you welding but most people don't weld at home in their garage. Anyway it's OK to be skeptical their always trying to sell something or some way of thinking

The Nascar is pitifully slow.

Bad comparison with the NASCAR small-block.  Those the 200 mph gearing isn't nearly right for standing starts.  That's why NASCAR starts are always a rolling punch-it at ~50mph.  But electric car fan that I am, I'm sure the electric would still be smoking' it out of the corners at 200mph.  And you can charge it at night, when there's always lots of extra electic power waiting on-tap.

see other vedios in you tube where this x 1 car has been defeated in such a huge calculation that it is really shame full. people just give any thing to prove their vehicle to be the best. i can say that the lamborgini even didnt gave its full power just to make the x1 to win.. ha ha ha

I wonder when some/any of the racing circuits will open to electric vehicles. I can see a pit stop changing from filling the tank to a 5 second entire battery pack change out. Limiting factor is a battery pack range at max output versus a full tank of gas is not quite there. 5 years?

Electric cars with a motor for each wheel are even better as steering is aided by power distribution each motor is smaller thus cheaper and no transmissions or gearboxes.

Great to see that Avasva has new instructions to save my money and energy to build it.

Ok I'd be impressed if it had been installed in the Lambo's body and beaten a gas Lambo. It's a stripped down frame, no AC, No body, no body insulation etc. etc. To prove my point put the Lambo's engine in that car and put the electric engine in the Lambo and then race and see who wins. Nice story though. Thanks for sharing.

Funny to see these concerns posted in the past comments about EV battery charging time and high costs and such insufficient range etc. from just a few yrs ago, and where we are now with Tesla making and selling cars significantly less expensive during this past year, and many the other main stream auto makers starting to jump on the EV bandwagon too ..... i imagine in 3 or 4 yrs from now mass produced EV`s will be even much better still as competition within the rapidly growing industry quickly pushes to improve the EV technology even more as well .... i bet alot of people beside me werent thinking that their next car would be an EV just a few yrs ago .. i havnt any plan to buy one yet but it is looking very much like a EV is what i will probably get or if i even just rent a car within just a few more yrs, along with almost everyone else ?! Plus i can see now how most people will probably be ashamed to be seen driving in a smelly noisy gas car at the point when most people arent also still using them anymore ? So for that reason i think the switch over amongst general population to almost EV`s or at very least Hybrids will happen in quite a fast fashion at some point very soon ..

Nascar cars don’t have 500 hp. They can max out at 750 if you take the smaller tapered spacer off.
