I can see you're back in Pampanga, now! Welcome back, Mike.
We just had my Stepdaughter in Mother Teresa of Calcutta Hospital, in San Fernando, for 2 nights. Severe asthma and suspicion of pneumonia.
With the PhilHealth 'discount', we ended up paying P24K
The veterans hospital network only has a clinic in Manila and they only treat service connected ailments that are already rated service connected. I found out about that the hard way when the VA was paying for my long term stay at Cebu Doctors Hospital. The bill to pay veterans is sitting on Joes desk waiting to be signed
ОтветитьInteresting vid Mike, I am glad you are better, this is a subject that many try to avoid, and yet if you live in the Philippines will be an issue you are going to have to face eventually. My friends personal experiences with hospitals are it is fair to say variable from very good treatment to being mis diagnosed.
Ответить🇵🇭😎🇵🇭
ОтветитьNo insurance?
ОтветитьMike, I did the angioplasty and stent 7 years ago in Cebu City. Then went on "The Game Changers" highly recommended
ОтветитьYou would have paid more if you were in the US. Even if you have an insurance and anything that’s not covered, you’ll have to pay.
ОтветитьI recently had unplanned Gallbladder removed in US. $103k USD for ER, Ambulance, operation and overnight stay. Due to pretty good insurance im going to be $2k USD out of pocket. Lets see that's over 5 Million Peso. Im all for health insurance at home or abroad Im still looking into options for aboard later, I would also have a decent emergency fund for such cases good video good to know.
ОтветитьVery happy to hear that you got the care you needed in time. I’m only half way through watching this and just had to chime in with that.
Looking forward to watching the rest of this. It’s an important topic for retirees.
I am glad you are getting better. I had a cabgx5 in july, just had my cardioligist appointment yesterday and my ef is 55-60 and my heartbeat is normal. You are correct in making sure that stuff is taken care of before making a long term trip to the philippines. I am 46 and the most I have ever weighed was 190lbs, they said it is genetics, but also I smoked and never watched what I ate because I was always skinny. The open heart surgery is a long recovery but I think it is well worth it.
ОтветитьThis show blows 😮💨 Turkey Dick, Dummy!
ОтветитьMy part of maintenance was Phytosome Berberine ,turmeric, milk thistle ,Coq10,Vit D, and multiple vitamin liquids, especially B complex... good sleep and walk .
ОтветитьI'm watching to find out about insurance
ОтветитьA Doctor in Philippines are Nurses in USA
ОтветитьI have lost count the amount of times I have said to my friends that retiring there without adequate funds for healthcare is insanity, its the conundrum I am still yet to solve myself and may determine whether its a go for full time retirement there or not ( I have a decade or 2 to go until its an issue). I am contemplating instead, going there for the winter only and returning to the UK for 6-8 months a year. Thats what my wife wants us to do. She is all too aware of the dangers of living there when it comes to healthcare, she's the expert in my world she has endured her whole life worrying about getting sick, who am I to argue with that..
For someone that has just had a lot of surgery you are looking good. Wishing you all the best pal 👍
Thank God he directed you to the Right hospital & Doctors . Glad you’re doing better. Thanks for telling everyone about your emergency situation. That is why me & my Filipino wife don’t move back to her home in Philippines. I have spinal cord injury I got a morphine infusion pump ,& lung problems, I wear a portable vent at night . Funny story last trip to Philippines last October, they didn’t want me to return home on airplane with my trilogy 100 because of battery . The supervisor told her I had to have it they couldn’t ship it to me . Glad your better my prayers are with you and your wife & daughter .
ОтветитьFirst, glad to see you getting treated for your medical issues and hope for a good recovery. Going back to what we chatted on the live stream. I called Tricare Overseas and Medical City Clark is fully Tricare certified as a Preferred Provider. When you referred to treatment of disabilities, that is the Foreign Medical Program which is VA Healthcare not Tricare. I use both as I’m a Navy retiree and a disabled veteran. My father is having back surgery next month in Medical City. He is service connected for VA disability for his back condition. He originally was going to have his surgery done at Sacred Heart as they direct bill FMP. But he wasn’t happy with the hospital so he decided to have it done by the same surgeon at Medical City as that surgeon was Tricare certified and Medical City would direct bill Tricare and he would pay his portion out of pocket. At that time Medical City had suspended direct billing to FMP. He went there to set up his surgery and found out Medical City resumed direct billing. So FMP is covering it 100%, and he doesn’t have to use his Tricare benefit. FMP only covers VA service connected disabilities, whereas Tricare is the uniformed services health care program for active duty service members (ADSMs), active duty family members (ADFMs), National Guard and Reserve members and their family members, retirees and retiree family members, survivors, and certain former spouses worldwide, straight out of the Tricare website.
ОтветитьThanks for this live stream...i caught the tale end...get well and continue to stream..the longer the better, u true followers can't get enough of u,,pls keep this posted for all to see and review.
Ответитьglad doing ok. Anyone heard from Andy Omar? He took a fall and disappeared.
ОтветитьMike you look better than ever, fortunate for you that you have the resources to pay for the care you needed as most expats that I've seen over there either do not or they're too far away from a top tier facility that can save them when the inevitable happens
ОтветитьYou should have titled this video, No Country For Old Men
ОтветитьMike best wishes and you look Great! Very nice info Video 🇺🇸🇵🇭
ОтветитьHeath is so important. At 57 Ive gotten in much better shape...work a physical job for 2-5 more years. Hope your recovery goes well and you can live many happy years
ОтветитьMy wife was in the hospital here for two nights and three days in Feb. If we had no insurance that would have cost over 60,000 dollars. Fortunately we had medicare and great supplemental.
ОтветитьThank you for this very realistic video.
ОтветитьGlad you're doing better, Mike. I wonder if there would be any interest in a vlog: staying healthy in the Philippines/Abroad? Was thinking about starting one on that. All the other angles seemed to have been overdone. Your video inspired me. Thank you!
ОтветитьYou need to exercise and eat right to take care of yourself.
ОтветитьGlad you survived to tell the story, take care Mike.
ОтветитьSo after all of that I’m curious are you still smoking
ОтветитьGlad your back and on the mend. Keep up the great work with weight loss and stopping the smoking. Get healthy and drive Arlyn crazy keep her on her toes! LOL
ОтветитьCan't argue with any of your advice I'm well insured in the states none here yet I'm close to selling my home and getting better prepared here good luck I'm 24 hours no smoke
ОтветитьTwo diuretics? Be careful of your sodium level. That can strip it.
ОтветитьThe British guy….. You have him rattled, he knows you have the ability to expose his true self and he also knows his wife, her kids and the rest of his community are watching. He prefers to ignore the possibility that he is the laughing stock of his village and sadly that means the family he is clinging to for dear life are being humiliated with him. I feel for the girls who are still young and will have people sniggering behind their backs at who they have to live with, I then feel sorry for his partner who I can only imagine he has driven mad over 10 years. He is a damaged, complex and scheming human being. He instigated this current situation once again and oh look now he has something to discuss….. himself. You see he has orchestrated this so he can spend many an hour talking about himself. It feeds him and he does not care about the embarrassment and damage this does to those who are having to share accommodation with him.
What an absolute Jackass this British Expat is.
He thinks he is high IQ material, well he isn’t that smart, he is an attention seeking moron who does not care about the damage to his partner (ex) and kids are experiencing because of him.
The best thing they can do is get him removed from the house and even the Philippines, he is just deluded, irksome and disturbing to listen to.
That poor Filipino family, thats all I can say.
I am sure he is reading this and feeling slightly aroused at all the attention. Utter wierdo.
Hi Mike, happy to see you back home and getting the care that you need. Being as old as I am health care is a big concern. If I do need any surgeries, I will go to the nearest VA Hospital. Baring that, I am still waitng for the big spaceship from Planer X to come here and beam me up Scottie. Being that they atr far more advanced, they will fix all my physical problems and I will come back looking like I was 25. See, I have made plans for my future. Heres wishing you many more years of living here in the Philippines.
ОтветитьThanks Mike, glad that you came through the health care crisis. It's a great warning for all of us about taking care of ourselves and the actual cost in health care in the Philippines when its a serious issue.
ОтветитьGlad to see you back.. hope your feeling better
ОтветитьYou are lucky you had your wife to go to the hospital with you and help you.
ОтветитьGetting a nuclear stress test every couple of years could catch the blockages in the heart before they become a medical emergency. The test is probably not to expensive in the Philippines.
ОтветитьMike, I’m sincerely very grateful that you got the care you needed and are on the road to recovery. Wouldn’t at all be the same around here in the community without turning on my YT and getting to see your commentaries and videos. Stay on that path with the diet, your friends and family (and even just YT friends) definitely care about your well being bro. All the best!
Ответить$15,900 and what if you can't pay>>> how can they keep you in the hospital>>> if you don't pay what happens? prison?
ОтветитьHappy to see you again
ОтветитьBeen drinkin Coke, sugars, fats, and am 80 lbs overweight and I'm 80 now, haven't been to the hospital for anything serious. If your a citizen of USA and you have a life threating injury or ilness call US embassy in
Manila an they will send a rep out to you, they will have you sign a note to pay later and will treat you at St Luke and will save your life if possble...Must be US citizen...
Had heart attack last year. Angioplasty, 2 stents @ St Luke’s. $14K. Pacific Cross paid me $11K.
See Mike Onstad. The best !
Not many would miss Andy
ОтветитьAndy doesn't respect anyone else's privacy
ОтветитьPacific Cross peso plan would be great if I could get on it
They had me do labs and after submitting they came back with a request to have my urinalysis redone due to trace amounts of albumin
I think if I were you and are able to travel depending on your condition I would either be on a jet plane to Thailand or go back to the USA...Getting sick like that is not an option in the RP(being sarcastic of course)..The cream of the crop of doctors in the RP are working abroad in 1st world countries..Best of luck to you...
ОтветитьI'm a clinical pharmacist specializing in hematology cardiology and ID. I'd be happy to look into your situation if you would. Like. We can run checks through Lexi-Comp , Epocrates, Up to Date...etc. Let me know. Be happy to help you!
