It would me more accurate to his style if the Camera man keeps walking off and filming other things in the kitchen, maybe with a voice over like "These dishes should have been washed by now, but nobody seemed to want the responsibility..." (Y tu mama Tambien, Children of Men)

Also most of it should be in one take, and a little splatter on the camera that both grounds you but takes out of the story. (Children of Men).

It's funny and all but it ain't Cuaron. He's more of a gritty, handheld, one-take kind of guy. I don't think I've seen him using that much slow motion either in his films.

I'm just made where never got a Martin Scorsese makes a cake where its a someone taking a finished cake out of the oven while we get a monologue about always wanting to be a baker, cut to a gorgeous montage of someone buying a bunch of groceries and baking the cake while Take Shelter plays.

I wish this was more in the style of A Little Princess & Great Expectations with a major use of the color green, which is what I think of in regards to Cuaron's films stylistically, though I'm sure overall his aesthetic has long since moved away from that
