I think another thing that made the frustration even worse with the excess of gameplay encounters, is the fact that all of the side stories are piling up on top of each other, they are given urgency story wise, and batman makes it a point that he has to stop the villains of each one, and yet... You can't truly dedicate to each of them proper because the majority of them are in the currently locked islands.

I think a bit of pacing could have helped this game a bit better, cuz all those urgent things that need Batman's help start to feel a bit silly, and that's on top of the urgency of the main story, Barbara would be several times dead at this point with how much they keep delaying you finding her at long last, lol.

Still, enjoying this playthrough a lot!! I need to catch up with the other episodes!

About your little rant at the end regarding the story pacing, I 100% agree with you. I view the Arkham games like this, Arkham Asylum is the game that does too little, Arkham Knight that does too much, and Arkham City has just the right balance of everything. Rocksteady knew this was the end for the franchise, so they went all out, unfortunately they didn't take the time to make sure what they were adding in Arkham Knight made sense to the gamers. Since you haven't finished yet I won't spoil anything and I'm clearly a bit behind watching this series, but many characters you'll see don't live up to their potential as shown in the previous games and you can sense the writers were just throwing things you'd expect in an explosive finale but didn't take the time to make sense of most of it

Funny, but I think you actually missed Zass appearance. It was on clock tower when you had to analyze the footage of Barbara being taken. Very quick and small but it was there. Otherwise great series Whymsy!

Yep, the Jokeritis is really starting to take effect on Batman.

Whimsy, you could change to battle mode with the batmobile to do the riddler's puzzles, it is much easier to handle and move around

I think I have your answer. You're not wrong in your outro critique but it says a good deal more about yourself than the game, and it's wonderful to hear! If I may distill your main point: the game is getting in the way of the story. As a long-time fan of the Bat (I'm in my mid-fifties) I feel you should put down a controller and pick up a comic. It's nice to see one of my favorite characters in a flickering rectangle but he doesn't live there, he lives on the page. And on the page NOTHING gets in the way of pure story; no encounters, no side missions, just the world and the characters you've fallen in love with. Happy reading!

I think Scarecrow is actually voiced by the guy who did Strange back in Arkham City. I guess it fits better with his appearence in this game. His old voice was good too, but I suppose it wouldn`t work here; just speculating.

Nightwing is a side mission. The current mission you’re on is part of the main story. A Batman game where you find Barbara right away would be great. Smh. Just do the main missions and then it’ll be over in two videos. Turn up the difficulty if it’s two easy.

It's a good idea to keep an upgrade point on hand and only upgrade your armor when you're about to lose an encounter. When you do it completely refills your health and armor bars. I probably should have mentioned this a few games back.

I might be in the minority, but I love watching puzzle solving. I was all in for watching you do the Riddler puzzle! I dunno, it's just really a catharsis to see people figure them out. Like I said, I might be in the minority. But I love them. As ever, it comes down to your choice.

As a side note, what really strikes me about Riddler is how FAIR he is in regards to his challenges. There's a man of honor underneath that HUGE inferiority complex.

I am SO gald you enjoyed it so much! I enjoyed my second playthrough of it even more than my first, because there were insane amount of details in this game that you won't discover one your own, and each time you would drop your jaw finding a new clue/voice line you haven't heard of🤌

I like the way you mix up the missions and don't just focus on the main missions, keep it up whimsy 😁👍🏻

Main story is honestly not long, the side missions make it a long halloween(story)

You say it’s easy but to me I remember it was hardest of the Arkham games. So trust me it gets harder. And also I like taking my time playing the game. Maybe is your style of playing that’s hurried at times that makes it feel like you’re not progressing.

Hey whim...when you are Standing or gliding and you see a car chasing police car or riddle car(green ones)... You can just goes near them press the button batman will get on the top of car and crash it.

I completely agree about the story. It meanders a lot, has pacing issues, and events in the plot are unevenly distributed in the gameplay time.
Some of the side missions, specially the ones on Season of Infamy, are very much more satisfactory as stories in their whole.

Some fun facts:
1) In one of the alternative universe (negative universe, if I'm not mistaken) batman actually turned into joker and it's absolutely HORRIBLE and terrifying. He became Batman Who Laughs. One of the strongest and op version of the batman. He literally almost destroyed MAIN DC universe. Imagine, combining Batman's strategy mastermind and being always one step ahead and Joker's chaotic sadistic unpredictable nature. He had jokerised robins and used them like cannibal animals, holding them by the chain in their necks.

2) Nightwing is the first robin. Batman admitted that Nightwing is better hero than him himself and that he is his best legacy. He even once became batman (replaced him), when he was killed for some period of time. And he was really good as batman. But Dick absolutely hate it and didn't want to become Batman. That's one of the reason why he stopped working with Batman. It's miserable depressing unhealthy life. Nightwing is more like Spider-Man in terms of personality. He's much more a nice guy than Bruce without soo much trauma. He became something similar to Batman but without this cold dark miserable personality that Bruce has. He's soo cool. Also, his arch nemesis is Deathstroke. Deathstroke is more Nightwing and Teen titans (Nightwing's team of superheroes) villain rather than Batman's villain.

3) Azrael actually became the Batman for some period of time when Bane broke Batman's spine. He's also one of the strongest Batman's variation. He's MUCH more brutal. And he absolutely CRUSHED Bane by himself. He also became the batfamily member. His sword also has magic, similar abilities with Ghost Rider's powers to kill guilty person. But he's a rare member.

Medics have already been in the game since Ace Chemicals, they're in almost every encounter, reviving people in the background. It appears you just didn't notice them, lol.

If you play the dlc it integrates into the main game so you can do it like you do the other most wanted side missions

What made Arkham Asylum great was how linear it was and nice and compact. Arkham City improved on that and gave some flexibility which makes it the best one in my opinion.

I enjoyed Arkham Knight a lot but you are right some of the side stuff takes you out of the moment. There is a lot of filler. However once you get deep into it alot ties together nicely. Keep the faith 👻
