Stalin's first wife Kato Svanidze died very young; she was the love
of his life and he is quoted as saying he lost all feelings for humanity
when she died. Maybe that is why this was his favorite song.

I believed always that it is an ucrainean song! Yes, Stalin was georgian, even from Tbilisi, I saw his house in a travel. I like other russian songs. And of course russian composers!

First time I heard this song here, it was in Aug 2017, and since then it became one of my most favourite songs.

Bro, I may have to take back those books I wrote criticising Stalin, he knows his music.
