"Don't show me no more, please....."
Ответить1968 is the renaissance era of our time the high water mark if you think about that year it was a gold rush for music 1968
Ответитьhe would've loved Instagram
ОтветитьWonderful Memories written by Robert Hawthorn and Bernie Marsden arrangement credits given to members of Alaska. It was only released as a 7"and 12" single in the uk and was not on our second album The Pack.👍
ОтветитьThese songs... He writes so poignantly about anything, and the melodies just go where they want to go. Pfew. Masterclass!
Ответитьdon't comment no more please
ОтветитьIt seems highly unlikely, but in the same year this album came out, during the flight of Apollo 9, during a joint space walk, while taking pictures of Rusty Schweikart taking pictures of him taking pictures of Rusty Schweikart, Dave Scott's wry comment that it was "people taking pictures of people taking pictures" makes you think he might have heard this song. What would the squarest of American astronauts (which Dave Scott likely was) be doing listening to the Kinks? But who knows?
ОтветитьKinks❤️
ОтветитьI can see where Sparks got their early vibe.
ОтветитьIndeed.
ОтветитьThere's no other band like the Kinks. I sure hope they'll be remembered by future generations.
ОтветитьAs a long life fan of pop music, Beatles, Stones, Zep, Sabbath etc, in my humble opinion "The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society" is the greatest album ever recorded!!!
ОтветитьThis album is unbeatable and prescient. All involved at the top of their art/craft
ОтветитьJust so utterly brilliant. Ray Davies at his absolute pinnacle here. The lyrics appear so simple if you read them plainly yet they are so profoundly meaningful and melancholic. A true genius.
ОтветитьA prophetic song! This is the signature tune for all those sad, hollow narcissists who can't let five minutes go past without pulling out their phones to take a selfie for their IG or Facebook accounts.
ОтветитьLove ❤️
ОтветитьWilly wonka meets Celia Cruz
ОтветитьI love you guys
ОтветитьIs this album the first Sparks album?
ОтветитьThis is such a great song.
ОтветитьVGPS is the best Kinks album!
ОтветитьLovely song 😎❤
ОтветитьMy favourite british band
ОтветитьBloody hell. This guy can write a song about anything and make it work! If that’s not song writing genius, I don’t know what is!
Ответитьrollicking great fun, the entire album
ОтветитьThis song is very relevant in the Insta-generation.
Ответитьthis song sounds like a mixed manic episode lmao, the euphoria n deep sadness both bursting out of ur skin
ОтветитьDid Ray Davies predict the future or was he just paying attention?
ОтветитьMore strikingly true than ever, in this age of FACEBOOK. People take pictures of what they are drinking or eating - and think everyone wants to know and see. Unbelievable.
ОтветитьPeople take pictures of the Summer,
Just in case someone thought they had missed it,
And to proved that it really existed.
Fathers take pictures of the mothers,
And the sisters take pictures of brothers,
Just to show that they love one another.
You can't picture love that you took from me,
When we were young and the world was free.
Pictures of things as they used to be,
Don't show me no more, please.
People take pictures of each other,
Just to prove that they really existed,
and the moment can last them for ever,
Of the time when they mattered to someone.
Just to proved that it really existed.
People take pictures of each other,
Of a moment that lasts them for ever,
and the time when they mattered to someone.
Picture of me when I was just three,
Sat with my ma by the old oak tree.
Oh how I love things as they used to be,
Don't show me no more, please.
Such an incredible album.
ОтветитьTry also the Kinks' God's Children
Ответитьdamn, ray, you a real one for this
ОтветитьNow I see where 'Piper At The Gates Of Dawn' came from now! Hahahah
ОтветитьIt's amazing! It seems to describe the present days!
Ответитьstewie?
Ответитьive had this song stuck in my head for thee months but couldnt remember any of the lyrics or what it was
ОтветитьA perfect example of how influential Ray Davies and the Kinks were for a lot of future bands. This song sounds exactly as it had been done by The Sparks
ОтветитьThis song talks about the fear of being forgotten.
Man, I really love this band.
BRILLIANT!
ОтветитьThis should be called “Picture Book 2”
Ответить⅙⁹⁶⁸
ОтветитьI wish this album would never end. I want to live in it.
ОтветитьDeceptively simple song...
Ответитьnot enough people know how good the kinks really are. Great stuff
ОтветитьJust shows that nothing’s changed except for the technology getting better

So nostalgic and true to life. Brilliant lyrics and music.
