The only time art can be political is depending on the Creator's intentions, not just because art exists.

Depending on circumstances art can be entertaining or emotional or both. If politics is supposed to be what drives out emotion then that's the reason it's hated in our video games because that's exactly what it does, and not in a good way.

Art is subjective and meant to be appreciated, but in the current climate of politics it's not.

If we have to continue looking at politics and constantly facing tribalism then we'll all go mad because that means will continuously hate everything and everybody because we're not allowed to think for ourselves.

By Nature I am liberal but I am not connected to Democrats anymore. I'm willing to listen and try to understand where both sides are coming from so I'll know how they think and feel and how they constantly pit themselves against each other because they want to be more important than the other.

It is important that there has to be escapism, but there can't be one as long as both sides continuously brings it in. It is usually those claiming to be left and keeps bringing it in, but that affects people on the right who wants to label every liberal as being the same so they keep feeding off each other through the cycle of anger.

I'd rather not keep feeding that cycle but looking how things are going we've gone past the point of ignoring it.

I'd rather not participate. But if they keep dragging me into it then I'm going to turn to the exact opposite of what they want.

Subverse wasn't even on my radar, but it looks fun. Just read an interview with the creative director, and it seems like the people at StudioFOW know exactly what they're doing. Good for them.

When people think of totalitarianism, they often think of gulags, secret police etc, but the real definition of totalitarian is "the politicization of every aspect of society". That's how totalitarian systems work. In the Soviet Union every play had to uphold socialist ideals, agricultural science had to become "socialist agricultural science", painting had to be done in the socialist style etc etc.

So when leftists today say "everything is political", they are unwittingly admitting that they subscribe to a totalitarian worldview. They want to control everything.

We, Gamers, will always buy games that are interesting. It is totally possible that a political GENRE game could be interesting as a strategy-type. Games are art and if big companies keep going towards plain political games, then I guess there’ll soon be “new” big companies as the previous fall to bankruptcy.

Btw, Arch isn’t simply just “far right wing”. Albeit, he seems more on the “right wing” than I’d be. But US politics doesn’t decide what is “right wing” and whats not... never did. Nor is it the best kind of politics in the world. Loudest ppl in internet seem to believe it’s so though.
