Who are saptarishis?
The Saptarishi in Sanskrit , means "seven sages"; Saptam means seven, Rishi means sage, so seven sages, who are praised enthusiastically at many places in the Vedas and other Hindu literature.
The Saptarishi or seven sages of Sanathan Dharma are the mind born sons of Lord Brahma.
Who is Manvantara ?
In Hindu teachings, Manu, or the first man, was not visited by a God, but rather by a fish. the fish is the deity, Lord Vishnu. This fish/God told Manu that the world would be destroyed in a great flood. Manu built a boat in which Saptarishis were also sitting and tied it to the horn of the great fish. The fish guided Manu’s boat through the floods and to the top of a mountain.
The Saptarishis of the current manvantara (the current four yuga cycle) are:
• Atri.
• Bharadvaja.
• Gautama Maharishi.
• Jamadagni.
• Kashyapa.
• Vasistha.
• Vishwamitra.
As per legend, the seven Rishis in the next manvantara will be Diptimat, Galava, Parashurama, Kripa, Drauni or Ashwatthama, Vyasa and Rishyasringa.
All the Saptarishi are Brahmarishis which means they have completely understood the meaning of Brahman.
