I don't understand this shine box reference, I was just realizing that I never really heard a Donovan song so I decided to look some up and then I found this and have been obsessing over this song ever since.

This is one of the best songs of the 1960's. I was 12 years old when it was released.
I can close my eyes when I hear it, and it's 1969 again.

Periodically I come back to to this very specific video. It captures the very heart and essence of the ocean that somehow magically beckons you into its abyss. It is beautiful, mesmerizing, so so dangerous, but also so life-giving. It's absolutely GORGEOUS. Almost tear-jerkingly so, even up close close with that cold gray look it's still beautiful beyond all definition.

And the SMELL! The most deeply satisfying SMELL. You can almost smell that sweet, fresh salty ocean spray through this video.

Oh, how I loved this song in my youth and today I came across it again, kismet, my soul rejoiced with past memories and future comings. Donovan revealed a hidden truth and knew more than we.

As a 13 year old in 1969 I wished to be old enough to go to Woodstock. Even though no food,water or bathrooms. The music is timeless. Donavons "Atlantis" and John Denvers "Calipso" made me feel free.
