The past 20 years, and especially in the last decade, the powerhouse countries had dominated the pageant even though contestants from non sash countries performed just as well in the competition. I think a lot of fans are now upset because their countries’ sash factor may no longer matter that much. Switzerland should e won I 2006, Kosovo in 2008, Paraguay in 2021 and Curacao in 2022

I'm surprised there are people who still like watching this. I never felt interested because I'm a fan of natural beauty, and they accepted contestants who had gone under the knife. I think if there were a beauty pageant out there who would go absolutely natural, I'd be interested in watching it. Same as with bodybuilding; if there were a bodybuilding contest with not one "enhanced" contestant on the stage it would be more impressive to me. 🤷‍♀

IMG era is an era of some countries favouritism, USA, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Philippines and so on, this new MU direction is correcting that. It obvious during IMG era, all this nations are always there no matter how best little pageant countries do

When I was young, I was obsessed with Miss America

I did pageants when I was younger, in my preteens & teens. My first pageant coach & etiquette coach were sisters but one of the sisters was a former Miss America & Miss Georgia. I also had other friends that did the Miss Georgia pageant. They try really hard to make sure everything is on the up & up but like anything sometimes people don’t follow the rules.

Also, the reason that sometimes the audience thinks one contestant should be in the top but the judges pick someone else is because there are certain things the judges are looking for in each contestant. For example I never won the photogenic competition because the judges wanted to see the white on both sides of my pupils & my eyes are really small & I just couldn’t get that in a pic like judges look for. I was typically 1st runner up or below because the judges thought I looked older than my age group. They knew I wasn’t but they were looking for a contestant to look their age. The parts of the pageant I was best in was the interview which I almost always won & Miss Congeniality which I won in most every pageant I was in. Miss Congeniality is voted on by the contestants so that honestly meant a lot to me. But sometimes it might come down to the fact that the contestant didn’t look at the judges or that she did depending on the pageant. The judges just have certain things they are looking for.

Idk about the Miss America or Miss Universe pageant but in the smaller ones we could sometimes get the judges score cards/notes to see if there was anything specific we could do better next time. And some of the girls can be catty & underhanded but most of them are so nice & would help you in a heartbeat. But when the pageant is more than a couple hrs when you’re staying there for different events, people are watching how you behave throughout.
