Very Helpful! We are using Beauty and Truth too, and I agree being able to talk about what they learned yesterday and define terms is very helpful for long-term retention and shows that they really understand it, or that they don't and need more review. This is working on their language and comprehension skills too.
ОтветитьThanks for the video. Enjoyed seeing the Beauty and Truth part. I live in NZ, and after a charlotte mason math curriculum. Was deciding between SCM and them. Cost is the deciding factor, so was good to see how it looks. The sample are good on website, but hard to read with 'sample' splashed acrossed.
ОтветитьCan you reference the podcast you mentioned? I’d like to listen
ОтветитьYay! FINALLY a wonderful review of Beauty and Truth! I’ve been searching and finding very little. I am really drawn to this for my rising 1st grader!! Thank you!
ОтветитьI am using “The life of Fred” and is simply excellent. I didn’t want anything even similar to traditional as ai had many problems in college and university to connect math with the real world, especially relating math with the biology field. I decided from the beginning that math was going to be an applied math curriculum, and The Life of Fred filled all my expectations.
ОтветитьThank you for sharing your review and experience with Beauty and Truth Math! This was such a help since I'm strongly considering going with that program this following school year. We had used Strayer-upton for my oldest in 2nd grade but it was a pain for me to implement and plan out on my own, so we went the Saxon route this year for my oldest and Christian Light for my younger 2 kids, and math is not enjoyable this year, so we're optimistic about Beauty and Truth math! I hope you share further videos on how it's working for your family!!
ОтветитьThis is what turned me off to the CM method in the first place. The emphasis on fluff. I don't blame Mason. It's the plethora of moms with young kids, complaining when math stops being cute and starts to get real.
I taught in a Classical Charter school, 2nd grade through 6th grade math. I just graduated my High Schooler from Homeschool.
The point of math is to train the part of the brain Literature, etc, doesn't reach.
For a whole brain education, you need math. Kids these days are lacking in critical thinking skills.
Math detaches the emotional aspect and gets you to think differently.
Save the fluff for the other subjects.
Thank you for sharing this review of Beauty and Truth. I would love to see a more in depth review of Beauty and Truth. Anything would be helpful, as there are very few if any videos/reviews on this curriculum. I'm looking to use this with both my girls. I am trying to simplify our homeschool. I'm definitely trying to figure out placement for my girls (12 yr old who struggles with math and a 9 yr old who is beginning to dislike math). Our main curriculum is currently Saxon but we are also using TGTB for a little supplement. I always get hung up on placement. Thank you!
ОтветитьDoes the hardback work lesson book have an answer key in the back?
ОтветитьOh. Also, do they have placement analysis to do? To determine where your child is?
