I'm absolutely not defending the way they treat the people who want to leave.
But there's a pragmatic reason for that.
If you make it easy to leave, more people will leave the community and less and less will carry on the tradition.
They have a very strict lifestyle and in this world you can't just do things halfway and be "kind of Hassidic".
That's why there's this horrible dilemma: either you stay and be Hassidic, or you leave and there can't be any contact, because that would mean the leaving people could "contaminate" the community.
I don't think it's easy for the remaining to see their children leaving. But they must have some sort of ultimate goal which is preserving the community at all cost. Too bad for those lost sheeps...
Religion is a business but also some sort of animal instinct. The more followers you have, the more influence and power you have and the more likely you will survive. As it's said in the documentary, when you're part of the community you get help all the time for anything. But as soon as you're away, you're alone in the jungle.
great documentary. very confronting.
ОтветитьThis was the most disgusting town I have ever had the misfortune of stepping into.
ОтветитьGO search Ari Shaffir. The coolest ex-jewish comedian. One of the top blokes of all time. Saw him live for 2 hours all Jewish jokes and that guy is on top of his world. Love it This is starting off very depressing watching this.
ОтветитьBiased, wrong perspective.
Custom made bigotry.
🇮🇱❤ Pro Israel Pro Zionist
ОтветитьIsnt it funny how people watch one person’s tale and extrapolate that that’s what the whole community is living through.
ОтветитьThey remove the children from the mother to scatter them with Family members!!!! New York has a very corrupt system!
ОтветитьAnd i thought jewish men were very submissive because they never fight back during hate crimes.
ОтветитьI'm wondering about the "neutrality" of US courts, who seem to have tendency to benefit those communities. Ignoring these kind of abuse.
ОтветитьTrès touchant et émouvant !
pour le drame de cette Dame, il fallait prendre ses enfants et fuir dans un autre pays...
So sad. Silly old men giving specious and false "wisdom" to brave young men. Cruel, compassionless, merciless. Jesus said love your enemies. These people won't even show love to their own children /people who want something different for their lives. i hope the people who left are blessed in their lives and will grow an even closer and personal relationship with God as He gudes them. Very brave.
Ответитьnazis burned books and these leaders want to burn smartphones and the internet. what's the difference? i don't care where fanaticism comes from, there are no exceptions because of this or that or whatnot. this is the kind of mentality that will continue to try to hold humanity back into their trite 'groupthink' because they know that for members is so difficult to get out. it's difficult having to think with your own mind and make your own decisions, because it takes constant effort and because you always pay a price for your freedom. life is a choice.
if my god gets offended if i don't wear a hat or a wig or if i switch a lightbulb on a saturday, then i don't think i want to believe in such a depiction of a god of intolerance and religious tantrums. i'd rather do the work on my own and find god without the overbearing structure of any organised religion and ultimately develop as a human being. and if i fail, at least i know i have tried my best and will keep my chin up.
I worked for a trucking and warehouse as an office that was owned by hasdic news. It was a very eye opening experience.
ОтветитьSick people
ОтветитьAll religions are brainwashing cults. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are all based on make believe fiction. They are cults.
ОтветитьOne thing that I don’t understand is the lawlessness: I just watched this documentary and the series about the flds: so many similarities. The part I really don’t get is that the US judiciary system should protect mothers and children from an abusif husband, and should protect kids from sexual predators. Why should some people born in the United States benefit from that protection and others not just because of which community they were born into?? No one should be above the law.
I might be mistaken but I believe such injustice would not be tolerated in France and other European countries. Here there are laws that classify extreme religious groups who indoctrinate children as a sect, and sects are illegal.
One angle to justify this continued state of things brought up in the film is that the community would disappear if they don’t keep their strict (oppressive) rules but is that really true? They could try to keep the sense of community, teaching the language, the songs, etc but without keeping their members closed from the world and offer them a broader education. If they keep what is beneficial to people, like helping each other out, etc I wouldn’t surprise me if they would all gain from it even in the eyes of their god.
Ari today owns his own starter tech company and lives in the community near his family and wants to see a change. Good for him. Censorship has weakened lately and recently.
ОтветитьHasidic is a certain group of people inside judaism and there are some extremists. You can't judge judaism just based off hadism
ОтветитьThis religion if continues doing acts like forcing innocent females to marry them it should be against the law as is against human rights
ОтветитьThat kid left and then just hung around where he used to. Move on... The other guy got a life
ОтветитьEach nation has for me moral obligation to give access to non religious education where all have possibilities to exchange with others with tolerance and open mind. Don't let religion dominante schools.
ОтветитьThey need to stop and get in the real world
ОтветитьWell, extremism has nothing to do with your faith! Whatever religion, extremism leads always to the same results! ....
ОтветитьF..k the community, especially if they can't accept their own children for who they are, F..k your parents also if they disowned you.
I am not Jewish, and my parents don't accept me for who I am. So I disappeared from their life and anyone who associates with them.
I moved to a country where they could never find me. LMAO 🤣 😂 😆
I am so happy 30 years later, and I will not contact them. My happiness always comes first 💓
Masterpiece✨✨

ОтветитьI think it's reprehensible that these people manipulate the laws of the country to conform to their repressive society. The documentary mentions that they rely on the state for subsidized housing and public assistance. At the same time, they proclaim their rights come from God, not from government. Duplicitous behavior, at the very least. The entire society seems shame-based and authoritarian ruled by rabbi leaders.
ОтветитьI don't understand why they don't choose a more rural life for their community instead of living in a metropolitan city in a rural life they could farm, and live by their rules like the Amish instead of being a leech on society claiming single motherhood to get public assistance, get public housing get government funding for yeshivas that are private schooling so many thing bad things that a big city brings.
ОтветитьCan someone please tell me the name of the song that was sung in the church towards the end of the film? It's when she hugs the woman standing behind her.
ОтветитьPeople who use violence to intimidate a woman with children...
