AirPulse A80 have more mids, thus a more even response which is to be expected from a 2.1 design. The A800's woofers have to take care of the midband and bass and that often leads to a slight dip.

May I'm wrong to compare speaker systems from my A300, but A300 Pro sound "more tasty" at full frequency range. Not only bass and highs how in A80+T5. Thanks for great comparsion. I think many people decide after this whether to chase top models or not.
P.S. And here "source" input very close to recorded sound A80+T5 in most tracks ( except "Deep")..Wow. I like both systems now.

A300 Pro, producing more complete mid range... or the A80 size couldn't give a balanced spectrum with the woofer. Thanks for the comparison!

AirPulse A80 + subwoofer is very interesting. But the Edifier T5 is a bad partner for the A80. I think Rel T0 or T5 for A80 would be the best choice.

Edifier S4000 Pro’s with a 3 way design and 8” woofer and 4-5” midrange would be the bomb if you ask me. It’s just hopes and dreams as i enjoy my S3000 pro and can’t afford A300 pro and can’t get studio monitors as i want a remote, bluetooth and optical. Keep up the good work.

do A100 with sub but with more expensive, better sub not Edifier T5 and repeat with A80 too pls, it would be more "realistic" comparison to pair 750€ speakers (or 900€ in case of A100) with something more expensive than 130€ sub, maybe B&W ASW 608 or Polk Audio HTS 12 or Klipsch R-100SW, but there are so many options :D ... maybe you could do some basic sub comparisons too, for example i would like to know the sound difference between closed sub vs ported etc.

with a ribbon tweeter, these are sold as premium speakers hence sold at a higher price, those who love smoother high would pay the higher price. Those who are restrained with a budget can live without these ribbons and can enjoy the lower budget models from Edifier.

The a80+t5 the acoustic bass in 'jazz con cajon' is balance unlike with the a300 where it is overwhelmed by the hi & mid.

A300PRO is epic. T5 is not the matching sub for A80, quality and price wise.

Basses are terrible - both sets! when comparing with the original track. I don't understand why people couldn't hear it, the original track is like crispy deep sound " dang-dang" rhyme with great details while both these two sets are like "dong-dong" sound, they are broader but don't sound good at all. Did I miss anything? - Update: I listened again and seems that the bass performance is impacted by the stands -they are actually steel bar stools! could we please have a proper pair of stands and retest? thanks

Don't compare high-end bass of A300 to super-cheap Edifier T5 subwoofer. Take A100 (not A80) paired with any "musical" (sealed) sub like REL T/5X, SVS SB-1000 Pro or Paradigm Defiance!

it seems like the A80 doesn't drop the lower frequencies when using the sub out port. I just bought the A80 and I got the Eris Sub8 which has a 80Hz High Pass Filter. I'll test to see if there's an improvement by doing this.

(for those wondering, the Eris Sub 8 gets plugged into the music source first, then the speakers plug into the output plugs on the Eris Sub 8. LPF needs to be set at 80Hz and HPF needs turned on).

Thank you for the review. However this test is somehow giving a300pro an edge. A80 is for nearfield listening. While using a80 on a desk, reflection from desk and wallwill enhace bass and bring the frequency up a bit. Large speakers like A300 pro has the room to do the trick. Putting A80 on a stand as a room setup is going to make it sound worse. That said, A80 sound great even under such condition. I am about to pull the trigger on A80.
