in my eyes the goh and din really is the bigger pair on that match, the fact that they didn't do a flicker serve so much (only once or twice) which is their forte at this point really speaks volume. They were too nice, like any malaysian pairs lol. Anyway i also agree that the tournament participation rules need to be abolished

For the Jonatan shuttle deflection thing, even though it is a shame, I think he might have done better if he just focused on the next point rather than arguing with the umpire. I haven’t seen a decision being reversed in these situations before. Similar situation at LKY vs Anders, he argued abit then loses focus. But getting anxious for LKY becoming anxious in closing rallies is totally another thing 😂.
And watching Kodai plays make me feel exhausted as well. I hopes he can develop his attacks more.
Even though I wasn’t rooting for Weng, he looked unstoppable.

I thought you would talk about WD final a bit. Especially ZhangSX’s total meltdown. So surprised to see that at this level.

Injury with Ren was a shame as well.

i think it's not about whether someone else would show sportsmanlike behaviour, at the end of the day, that is something you need to personally choose as a matter of personal conviction

Once Gill said, ' When TTY is at her best, no one can touch her". I think TTY just wants to enjoy playing the last few tournaments as much as she can. It's sad to think how she performed earlier this year and now with injuries she just can't.

One thing I'm wondering is, the olympics and paralympics are over now - isn't it about time they started talking about the spin serve again?

Lei also in the final in HK so it's not really a new excuse for Viktor losing because of the delay.

Ben, our favourite badminton game influenced by bookies? Players not putting up their real effort, the results speak for itself! Excuse injuries, especially the unusual & unsubstantiated injuries. Now badminton received huge interest & attract big bettings.

The umpire should review footage and also discuss with the service judge in these sort of situations with Christie and WHY.

There’s also another controversial incident when izzudin played a net shot, ren xiangyu tapped the shuttle which is not even crossed the net and the umpire failed to see it and awarded a point for china. It was at 11-16 during 2nd set

Thanks for pointing out those participation rules. I think this might be the single most reason for these weird performances. I also think that the number of points in each set has to be reduced. In so many torunaments its a matter of last man/woman standing, especially the singles dicipline. If conditions in the arena are bad, you often get a very long 2nd set, which the winner of the first gives away. Boring as hell.

The reason why Izzudin/Goh did not celebrate after their historic win was made known to the Malaysian press post-match. They explained that on seeing that they had won the game due to Ren XY injury, they felt that it wasn't right to celebrate that way. Many people commented why they did not concentrate their attack towards the injured Ren. Some even went as far as calling them foolish and playing with no game plan. But the truth was that they avoided attacking Ren BECAUSE of that. They felt it just wasn't the right thing to do.
Well, if that's not two fine gentlemen sportsmen, then what is.

Badminton players are at the mercy of their national associations which are often corrupt. Players are strictly regulated and controlled. They don’t have the freedom like pro tennis players do. And thats really a shame.

Japan needs to have more strong women singles beside Tomoka Miyazaki to avoid her having to compete alone against 3 or 4 Chinese players in a tournament.

Great comments and thoughts on China open!
I personally don't agree with you on abolishing tournament participantion requirements, but rather change them a bit. BWF can spread big tournaments, so we don't have 2-3 high level tournaments in a row with no breaks. Another idea is just decrease min required number of tournaments by 1 in each category.
And for many years I still complaining that at top level badminton tournaments with lots of cameras around, we don't have a review system, that doesn't require any more money or technology. Net touches, double touch, touch before going out are all can be reviewed on a big screen for all to see if we have amend the rules. TV viewers can see it, but not umpires or players - just not fair. Players should be able to request at least once per game this.

Goh-Izzuddin showed us a lesson in HUMILITY (Danish players...take note) and sportsmanship in the final. They didn't deliberately target the injured Ren and didn't celebrate winning the biggest title of their careers so far. Proud of my fellow Malaysians 💪🏼🇲🇾

I think Tai Tzu Ying has in fact retired now. It‘s really hard for her to leave this sport, so she does not believe it herself. Letting go is hard for her. She said in an interview years ago, she fears to be forgotten, when she retires.

For me she is the best player ever. Other opinions welcome, but…
