Red Fox Barking

so beautiful, so sweet

I didnt know they made these sounds and I almost had a heart attack just now. 2am, saw a fox trotting in my direction and I stood to watch it but as soon as it saw me it walked closer and started making that yelp (high pitched) and bark (low pitch, sounds like a wet cough) sound right at me... Freaked me tf out!

This scared me but now ik what noise I'm hearing at 4:46 AM IM OUTRAGED!

All these years after that song was written, we finally know what the fox says.

3 FOXES?

I have foxes near where I live so I got quite interested in their calls, there is about 20 or so different fox calls. The bark is fairly common, often made while playing with another fox, or warning other foxes away.

Gekkering is the noise they make when fighting, it is a combination of yelps and howls and has a bit of a low rattling sound to it.young cubs will also make the gekkering sound when playing with one another

They also scream to protect their territory as they are very territorial - they do it to tell other foxes or predators to get out. This can be quite scary to hear it and be unaware of where it is coming from. In fact, it can be so blood-curdling that it often sounds like bloody murder!

The mating call of a fox will also make your blood run cold if you don't know what it is. If you’ve been awoken at night to a loud high-pitched howl, it’s likely a fox looking for a mate.

I just heard that sound for the first time ever in real life, its almost 5am

They are very beautiful.

I'm 40 and have only ever seen 4 foxes. 3 out of 4 were mangey looking. I was in a local rural area one night and I heard the screams and I've now heard more foxes than seen them.

We live on a farm in the middle of nowhere and hear foxes all the time. I used this and another video the other night with a Bluetooth speaker to respond to a fox that was barking and a little while later I saw it run up in our yard to check out the noise. I was standing perfectly still on the porch and never saw me. It came within about 10-12 yards of where I was standing.

Just heard this and panicked it was a dog

I called the police several times because I thought someone was getting murdered 😭 it was a fox

i was letting my dog back in and he wouldn’t come, and i heard this sound! he was tangled around a bush, so i had to stomp through the grass and the STUPID LEASH WOULDNT UNTANGLE and i kept hearing the dang fox scream and i got so scared i just unclipped him from the bush and ran inside 😭

Why is it so adorable when foxes just kinda stare at you and then sit down. 😂🥺🦊

Every night I hear this pretty much.
Sometimes sounds like almost in the garden below. I’ve never seen them though from my bedroom. Although always see same two roaming the streets near my flat in Hove.
Noisy buggers, but humans leave so much rubbish around they going to be around 😊
Part of life & they are pretty cool animals.

My fox 🦊🦊 that live in forest 🌲🌲 by my house was doing a choking noise it was so scary to me 😂 those noise I heard too 😊😂 I thought I had a crazy raccoon or a mountain lion 🦁

I just shot out of bed for this noise fuck and I am sick with covid

I have a special quiet place. I spend about 1-2 hours very each morning before going to work. I arrive at 3am. Here, I hear Barred Owls, Screech Owls, Coyotes, and one of my favorite sounds, "barking" Red Fox...! It is the best part of my day.

Where I used to live - in a cottage right out on its own 2 miles from the village - we used to have them playing in the garden, along with Badgers and Deer!
