Utah's High Spur | The BEST Slot Canyon You've NEVER SEEN! [4K UHD]

It was good running into you climbing back out. Im not going to lie im jealous you climbed back out. I was solo and doing the road walk with no shuttle and carrying a rope was miserable. Plus you got to see the slot twice! Definitely the way to do this one i think.

I just watched a couple of your adventures and just loved them. Like your commentary and the little bit of background music. My husband and did some hiking in the different parks in Utah and Arizona. I loved being there. We are Mountaineers from Washington. Regretfully, my sweet husband passed a few years ago and now I am living vicariously through different hiking and canyoneering videos. I do hike weekly but up here in Washington.

Hey Karl, this is probably my favorite video of yours. They're all great but this one's my favorite. QUESTION: Between Happy Canyon and High Spur Canyon, which of these two slots is the more spectacular for photography? Also, what is the approx total hiking distance for both of those slots from where you park your vehicle or bike? I'm only good for about a 10 mile hike. I enjoy scrambling, but I don't do repelling. It's Happy Canyon more than 10 miles total?

When encountering places that redefine the word 'awe', I find myself seeing things thru what I call 'ancient eyes'.

Very epic place Karl! Thats a long drive in there on quite a nasty road to get to that entrance to the Maze district so I may not take to doing this route. Very enticing though I have to say and seems it might rival Antelope Canyon without the masses to deal with. Great footage as usual Karl. Love the slot canyons and this one seems doable for the most part for an intermediate skill level. Hopefully one day.

Karl, thanks for your videos. I do a little climbing here in Colorado, and get out to the Colorado Plateau 3 or 4 times a year, so thank you for posting many routes I have done, and providing visual beta for places I plan on going to. BTW, I have used Road Trip Ryan for many years. I am looking at doing High Spur as a non technical hike next month. I do have some reps ascending rope, my partner does not. Anyway, the first drop RTR describes, I have seen as pics of a 17 ft drop, or as a step down, depending on the year and sand at the bottom of the pour off. Currently it looks its a bit of a concave drop. I was hoping to see how you navigated this as an upclimb, as well as the cork screw, near the big rap. It's selfish on my part but I was hopeful for a chest or head/helmet cam, and I apologize for that (not a criticism)! Your work is excellent, and always most enjoyable and useful. Can you share how you managed these obstacles? I did see you set up a short rope, off some natural anchor, I am not sure where. Thanks again!

Hi Karl Ive done this slot a couple of times. Most recently last month, stayed in the slot and left short ropes at the down climbs, Raps, had lunch at the big drop then assended my ropes. more time in the insane slot! I did the drive in a stock 4 runner, but with very careful wheel placement in the tough spots This is the true middle of nowhere! Be careful with car and your self! Having your rig towed out would cost $$$$$$!
