Presonus clearly outshined here. I would get Mackies before the Edifiers. Presonus is underrated. It has been winning every comparison I've heard 😎 The sounds are very crisp and clear. They have a better studio qualified sound.

I bought the E4.5 and this is actually a pretty good representation of how they sound, they feel really flat which i like, however these are nearfield monitors they need to be right besides you, if you put them behind a tv or very far away from you a cheaper bluetooth speaker sounds better which is a shame.

The 2 sounds great, but Presonus is designed for mixing, if you just want to listen to music Adiefier is the choice

Silly question, What would be better sounding at low to medium level? I
like to have these as desktop speakers to listen to music while I work. I
listen to Progressive house and Jazz hop. And also I will be using them for bedroom Djing. So I really want something that has rich dynamic
clarity, vibrant tones and lots of depth, also considering R1280T, Eris

Thanks for all the videos, after about a month of comparisons I ended up buying the R1280T as I listen to everything from classical to rock and wanted something that would have good clarity, but would also get the blood pumping on the heavy stuff (thank you side knobs). Your videos provided great information about speaker sound. you do amazing work!

Is interesting to see how every person hears in a different way, in my opinion the E4.5 annihilated the R1280T in every possible way, I'm surprised to read comments that prefer the R1280T!

I would Go with the Edifier for the 1/3 price of the E4.5..

I just got the Presonus 3.5 speakers and they sound a lot like the 4.5's here. They sound harsh to me and so I'm looking for something else. Looks like it's the Edifiers. If they end up being too bassy, that can always be eq'd out. But the 3.5's were just grating on me.

I just received the Edifier 1280 dbs model a few days ago. I edit videos on Davinci Resolve but I'm not mixing music per se, except to get the volume levels consistent between spoken voice and music background. The base output is very comfortable when I want to listen to music but I ordered the Edifier T5 subwoofer to add more base - I've read where adding the subwoofer lets the 1280s focus more on the mids and highs (we'll see). Overall, I am pleased with the 1280s as it fits with a decent pair of listening speakers and an editing pair. Edifier makes more expensive speakers and if my budget allowed, I'd be very inclined to step up in class.

The Edifier R1280T sounds better to me. I am however listening on a pair of Presonus Eris E4.5.

I'm trying to decide which one is therefore the better one, and my brain is beginning to melt.

Edifier R1280 is great for watching movies. Sound is very clear, bass is not too boxy, sound is very detail, backsound is clearly heard, surround feels. For music, hivi swan D1100 and D100 is better for audiophile experience.

IMO, the tweeters sound way more congested and laid-back on the edifier, completely missing the nuances of instruments compared to the Presonus. With that said, I think the Edifier may actually have better midbass. The Presonus actually sounded bad on that metal song. Unfortunately, that's a lot of what i listen to (Djent).

Lol, to be honest most people here, share their opinion based on what they love working with, those who are more of mixing vocals and producing music with less low frequencies would definitely prefer the presonus, but all rounders will definitely prefer the edifier, same thing applies with yamaha hs8 and m-audio bx8...

I mostly listen to metal music and do mixing which makes Eris a no-brainer.

I spend many hours playing Apex and I’d still favor Eris. It would be impossible for me to track sound cues (like footsteps using R1280T cause it’s more saturated on lows and U’d on mids “unable to hear around those mid-freq specially when focused on gameplay”).

If you’re considering for entertainment use and nothing from scenarios mentioned above. R1280T it is > Eris.

Good demonstration of the difference between bookshelf speakers and studio monitors. Both are excellent for their intended use. Can one stand in for the other? To the pro-ish music producer, probably not. For the rest of us it probably boils down to whether one produces more listening fatigue than the other, and for that, we would need a much longer video.

I do not know if you think the same, but to mix you have to keep in mind that what these presonus do is to increase a little the frequencies near the 1khz and keeps a little more stable treble and bass very little presence, then when mixing with them you will try to make a flat sound but in reality you will be doing a reverse equalization, I explain: You will try to make it flat when mixing and you will hear it that way in the presonus but when you play it in other equipment with V EQ like most of them, what will happen is that your mix will be opaque and with a lot of bass. Because by having an excess in 1k and making it sound flat there you are actually taking away much more than you should in that area. The same with the bass, as it has little, you will put more than you should looking for balance and then you will have an excess in a conventional V-equalization. Remember that all equipment has different equalizers. I hear the edifier more even but with less clarity in the mids which would be more convenient because when you try to make it sound flat in them when mixing you will get just a little more midrange than you expect but this seems to me more benefit than loss and the rest would be fine. I don't think I'm wrong.

POINTLESS comparison. Studio Monitors are not meant to sound "good"... they are meant to sound ACCURATE! The Edifiers have scooped mids.... fine for someone listening who doesn't know any better and only wants the highest highs and lowest lows. But notice the vocals are much clearer and understandable on the Presonus'. If you tried to MIX a song on the edifiers, beacause the bass and treble is so loud, you would EQ with less high/low and more mid, creating a mix that lacks in bass and treble and had things like vocals and guitars far too loud.

Judging form my speaker system, it seems the Edifie has better Bass volume but sounds muddy, while the Eris has a clearer high sound but less bass

Considering the fact that the Edifier has a built-in EQ setting so you can further adjust the fequenceis in the Edifier (increasing the highs) to get an even better sound than the standard settings

So the Edifier seems to be overall superior
