You laughing at the squeecky notes, but they could genuienly work well if put in a fitting context. Kanade Izuru does something like that in his cover of "Aishite, Aishite, Aishite" (although he only goes up to G#5).

If you ever plan on coming back I recommend to think about it, cause it would be a waste to not do any full-pledged covers untilizing that part of your voice

yeah so this elmo thing is indeed something you definitely don't want to do, like if I can't work up to get this note with grit I'm just gonna write some melody lower creatively with some good blues line or something. Because it's just up there. but some years ago I couldn't do Chris Cornell high tunes under control, but now I can, so probably it's just gonna take some practice.
