Touring the MOST EXPENSIVE HOUSE in the World | Normandy, France

This is the sort of home I love seeing because it's simply impossible to replicate. The history, the art, the grounds, the lifetimes it takes to build up a castle like this, it requires so much more than money. You can't hire a firm to make this. This isn't the next mega mansion made of glass. I love it

It's a big gorgous dolls house, but compared to Russian and italian palaces, trust me this is not that big? Albeit this palace is quaint and beautiful, none the less!

This was truly amazing. I can't imagine that the groundskeeping and gardening crew comprises less than a hundred people. So much work. Thinking that the guy who kept all the fireplaces stocked back in the day would have been fully employed for life. The scale of this place boggles the mind. It's a national treasure and the French government should step in to help foot the cost of some preservation. And if at some point the works of art were to become imperiled, they should be removed and put into a museum completely proprietary to the estate. And if I were a decabillionaire (centibillionaire?) at my age, 60 - incidentally Jeff Bezos' age as well - and nothing left to spend my money on, I would build a museum adjacent as possible to the chateau. Then perhaps spend another billion dollars making and replacing the original artifacts with replicas. Then another billion restoring the chateau as much as possible. Then put all of the original art into the museum of course. I don't even like art. Seriously. But thinking about priceless things deteriorating into nothing just seems wrong. Like hunting game animals to extinction. Once they're gone, they're not coming back.

I know it's history, except the grotto (creepy), but to me it reminds me of my hoarder mother's house. Plenty of floor space, but can't get comfortable because everywhere you look you're overloaded with clashing, garrish, stuff.

The Greenhouse is spectacular and my my favorite part of this tour. Did you see how many orchids were in there?!? What a marvel this palace is!!
