He probably would've cooperated and gone willingly if the preacher kept his 'holier-than-thou " nonsense to himself and not frightened the other men into an aggressive approach.

This movie is incredible

Sir John defending Lawrence from the lynch mob seems a lot less fatherly once we realize that he wants Lawrence to be the scapegoat for his attacks and is just making sure that he'll be around to transform and go on a rampage during the next full moon.

Aside from the fact, that this movie is absolutely gorgeous: Wow, Benicio looks so damn good in this movie! It's a pity, that in his films, he sometimes has to wear a beard or grow his hair longer (although he looks good there too) because, like in this film, he looks the prettiest. Short hair (whether curly, like in James Bond, or straight, like here) and no beard. Simply stunning, simply gorgeous.
