“It is a best practice treatment. We know it works. It is targeted and data driven.” Data driven based on measuring Not the core primary challenges associated with ASD or related changes. It is not partly but entirely a sham based upon so-called empirical based science which has been regarded by real science as antiquated and destructive. In fact it is entirely misleading, trauma producing and abusive! Functional autism is a term we shall reserve for those who do not not how to slow down, and enter into reciprocally engage a child in their world and must or wholly embraces and desire to view their child ( or more or less all children) as manipulative and therefore need to resort to gaining existential and instructional control, shaming and blaming and throw accolades on the great wisdom and success on the BCBA or behavioral clinician who has taught them how to get their child finally under ‘instructional control ‘ and compliance. This, not just disheartening but quite sadly, tragically and pathetically sickening!

"We know it works"

How on earth can you say that? Autistic adult after autistic adult giving firsthand accounts of their childhood they describe they felt so abused and tortured.

So according to you tortoting and abusing autistic children is successful?

This shows just how self-centred and that you're more concerned about self-satisfaction and that the child's well-being is meaningless.

I suggest you all start listening to Autistic people who experience this abuse, hear what they do behind the scenes and what they never share with you. She never included the wicked history that ABA condoned giving children electronic shocks that the government had to intervene and put a stop to it.

Neurotipical people cannot teach their form of communication to autistic people as their non autistic behaviour is caused by their neurological wiring.More bluntly they don`t think about what they do, just act according to their neurological program, so do we autistics. It is like there is a computer program who responds a certain way and we want to change that by punishing the computer with a nice slap on the screen when it says something undesirable, or giving it  a cake when it says something desirable, it is a clearly futile action. Just like a program can only be changed by changing the program, take the processor out and put a different program in it. As we are not computers, our processor = our brain cannot be taken out and changed which means our program cannot be changed!!!!!! :) The right approach is treat autism like a different language, as we autistics are very intelligent but we communicate on a different language!

In my experience, ABA, nouthetic/biblical counseling, conversion therapy, or just old fashioned bullying and abusive parenting are all different sides of the same object.
