Classic Car Tech-The No Start

What kind of starter does he suggest cause I’d love one that takes this abuse.

My dodge starts and runs good until I let the key go and it dies. I know it's a common problem but I can't remember what it is. Need some help.

One thing I learned a long time you absolutely do not pump the gas while you're cranking and engine over you pump the gas couple times then you started open the gas will crank in the motor just flooded it key to setting timing
One find top dead center with compression are number one cly.
Next mine timing mark up at least eight degrees advanced
Next make sure distributor rotor is facing number one cly
Finally turn ignition on coil wire to look for spark advance distributor till you see spark rotor should be facing number one on distributor cap. Put cap on and fired up you'll be within 2 degrees of your timing.

Having a similar issue since I changed my mechanical fuel pump on my 78 Ford f150 getting fuel to the filter and the carb still nothing fairly new plugs new ignition module new solenoid new battery new battery cables new plug wires no start 😔

I have a 1994 it's been sitting for over 6 years the fuel pumps fine the battery the starter spark plug wires even put fresh gas and nothing's turning over what should I do next?

I have a AVS 2 Edlebrock 800 carb they seem poorly made ..The area were you put the step up springs they get stuck they wont go down when I want to close the flaps ..I called Ethem dlebrock they said to take some 2000 grit sand paper and sand down those caps that hold the rods..I ended up just throwing it away and put on a Holley XP 750 ..That edlebrock carb was a $450 waste of my time

I see this a old video but im having similar problem. I have 71 El Camino I just put a 388 in. I have spark double triple check firing order and TDC have spark. Wont fire Im afraid of flooding it out. I can see gas going in the carb but after watching this and seeing how much gas he puts in the carb I dont think Im giving it enough gas. Brand new Edelbrock carb and intake as well

So, what was the problem as to why it would not start? Too far out of timing?

Same is happening with my 79 Camaro 350 engine after turning it on for around 15 minutes shut off car doesn’t have any spark
