I dated a Russian girl or two from bigger cities. A lot of stereotypes were shattered for myself during that time, both good and bad. Overall, the online dating scene for at least the millenial and zoomer demographic isn't great - lots of gold diggers, bots, scammers and people who match but never reply or who are averse to foreigners. Also I heard that the men-to-women ratio on popular dating apps is abysmal for men. On the other hand, irl girls in bigger cities won't give you a minute of their day and are usually sketched out as soon as they hear you. Smaller cities and interesting events or occasions is usually your best shot.

From my experience, if a girl is genuine and likes you, you won't be expected to provide entertainment and pay for everything. Just get flowers and you are all set.

I was told that a restaurant is never a good idea for the first date.
