This speedrun is a record I've wanted for a long time, and now thanks to new strategies & years of practice, it has finally happened!
The two biggest timesaves come from new major sequence breaks:
• 1-3 SBLJ: This skips the entire loop needed to open the gate. It took a long time to learn but in the end I got more consistent with it than I expected, and it became a viable trick for the run
• 3-4 block skip: This is something people have wanted to do for a long time, but seemed out of reach. @AndrewSM64 demonstrated in 2023 that it could theoretically be done RTA via light-chuckya, but this was unreasonably difficult. In the end, I realised the bob-ombs before the block platform were good candidates for instant-release & failsafe snap, and I found a HOLP setup in 1-1 that worked perfectly!
This run is still very improvable, and had a bunch of minor mistakes. My best pace ever into 3-1 was a full minute faster! I'll be grinding for sub-32 on the new version though.
