Every summer I try to make a pilgrimage back to Jumpin'Jacks in Scotia, New York. Fondly called JJ's by the locals, it's a great place to grab a bite, enjoy the Mohawk River and relive a part of your childhood. It remains a small, seasonal family-run business open from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

JJ's started in the late 1940s as an ice cream stand. Within a couple years, the owners expanded and added in the grill. JJ's serves standard drive-in fare; burgers, hot dogs, fish fry sandwiches, clam boats, homemade onion rings, fries and their most famous creation, the Jackburger.

What's a Jackburger? A double cheeseburger, with a generous scoop of their excellent homemade coleslaw. Messy and delicious. Enjoy it with a side of homemade onion rings for the perfect Jumpin' Jack's experience.

And don't leave without ice cream! JJ's has great soft serve. Flavors are rotated daily. Portions are generous. And JJ's also serves Dole Whip-one of the few places outside of Disneyworld that does.
