thanks for the info.. also I keep getting this weird issue. my output seems to go super quiet when i start my computer and my rme.. it's like its -30db. but everything in totalmix is at 0db so it should be going good. any idea what could be happening?

Hi Elijah, That sounds a little strange. I'd suggest contacting the RME representatives in your country to go through your setup. You can find your local support contact here: rme-audio(.)de/en_support(.)php

It's in the menu that pops out of the side of the channel strip when you click on the spanner symbol, just above the gain knob :-)

thanks... is there anything you can think of that would make the output super quiet? I cant figure it out... and returning it to the store is such a pain...

lol i know now.. I thought that the front jacks were shared 1-4 inputs but i actually have 4 ADDITIONAL inputs! lolwtf! things you would think i would check before buying a $2500 interface.

Would it be an issue if i use it as a computer audio out if i switch that of when using it for composing and recording?

how do i get ADAT to show up in Logic??

Hello, I'm using the RME babyface and Ableton to record my guitar but I'm encountering a very frustrating issue. Ableton will only recognize audio from AN 1 but not from AN 2. Unfortunately, AN2 is the channel my guitar is using. How do I get ableton to recognize AN 2?

Hi Synthax, thanks for the useful tutorials. Total Mix FX is very flexible, but I'm finding it confusing to use in my hybrid setup. Can we have a walkthrough usingTotal Mix to route signals I/O of the RME UFX to external hardware when in Logic Pro effectively?

I don't see any signal in software playback section. I click on "Inst" button in "hardware inputs" section to record direct my guitar and it works fine I see a green signal in my fader on mono track 9 and I see it working through "hardware outputs" "main" channel but I don't see anything in Software Playback section. I assigned the hardware inputs to outputs and software playback to those outputs but it still doesn't work. I tried to arm a track on an interface and it still doesn't work. thanks

Hi there, thanks for your tutorial synthaxtv. I am trying to figure out why my babyface with Logic 9 doesn't allow me to hear for example the guitar or a microphone plugged in WHEN I PRESS PLAY on Logic. I can hear them when Logic is in Stop mode or in Record mode..but basically I cannot practice the part before recording it. I'm really struggling..any help? Thanks Fred

Im have a problem with my baby facer as well. for siome reason. when i pan my tracks hard right i cant hear my track any more in my right head phones or speaker. but if i pan it hard left i can hear it from my left head phones. and when i play back my recorded track in Sonar the volume in my left ear head phones i can  hear loudly but not in my right. its just so qiet . I looked and turned all faders in total mix to figure out how to turn up the volume on the right but no luck. id like the to mix a song and here the paning effects in it.

Do you keep software playback at -3, and hardware out at 0? I am guessing software playback should leave some headroom for the hardware, but I am not sure what is the best settings for the most accurate representation of my mix in Ableton. I'd really appreciate the help.

i have a question, using he UFX, could i route a stereo channel out of ableton live, out of the headphone out 1 that isnt linked to the master? and also for headphone 2? so essentially use them as two more stereo outputs?

How do you change the fireface USB settings to change the clock mode to 96000 Hz? When I change it, it goes back to 44100 Hz in about 2 seconds every time.

Hi, I just bought an RME UCX to upgrade from my Mbox 2. I was advised by a friend that they are great and I'm sure they are but I'm having trouble interfacing with Protools. Can I manage a 5.1 sound mix with the RME and Pro Tools 10/11?

sorry for the stupid question but, can you use an rme 802 for lets say ableton or reaper? do you absolutely have to you use total mix? or can you still use the interface without total mix.. im confused...thanks

What about the RME FF800's Spfif input/output? Doesn't it show in the mixer window? I ask because my Kemper Profiling amp is going to be connected to my spdif connectors soon.

Hi! I'm trying to record drums through a RME FF800 inteface. I am using the 8 line inputs in the back for my preamps, routed correctly via TotalMix and the audio goes into Pro Tools just fine. However, the mic tracking my hihat via XLR going into the first preamp in the FF800 is not getting any signal, and I am not seing ANY of the four onboard preamps as channels in the TotalMix window. How can I get TotalMix to show the onboard mic preamps? Best regards, Cristoffer Iversen, Norway

Hi again. I have a question about my BabyfacePro Fx i just bough. I plugged in a condencer mic into input 1 (turned on phantom power in TotalMix FX) and i plugged a Dynamic mic into input 2 (phantom power off). Im using Logic Pro and i would like to add a different vocal effect to each mic. However, for some reason i dont even hear output from mic 2 in my headphones while recording i only hear mic 1. What am i doing wrong? And how would i set up different effects from Logic Pro? Please help:)

Just checking something. At the 2 minute mark, you start saying these are the analog outputs, but aren't those the analog inputs? Right after that you start talking about the outputs. Do I have something mixed up?

just bought my Fireface UCX two days ago. I am having some serious headaches with it. all I need right now is to get my headphones to give me my voice, I hear the track but can't get any voice although it does record but won't monitor on headphones

How did you get your headphones to show up on the right (beside your main out)?

Can the 2 headphone outs on the "Babyface Pro FS" be routed separately if necessary? OR must they reflect the exact same signal outs?

I have been searching for hours now and still can't find a single video showing how the DSP effects SOUND. Not one. Want to hear the dynamics and reverb. Seems impossible to find.
