For some reason the cannibals that attack my base only target the effigies and nothing else if im not present. It has been like this since day 10 and im almost at 40. Anyways cool vid bro

This game is literally impossible without guides.

Here’s a tip. I go to the 1 cannibal village that’s the deep pond that has the huge boulders in the middle of it. first build a small log cabin, then you build a log wall (or a stone wall, either one would work), then you make a raft with storage for logs then build a custom house on the boulders in the middle of the pond so that way you can do whatever you want with problems

after Sons of the forest came out, i bought The Forest for 3,75 EUR so i am playing that over the sequel :D thanks for the video :)

Don’t destroy bushes like he said. They often dont spawn back. U get seed when u eat the berries. Just do that so u also still have the bush as a source for berries. Also falling in the water in the pit works because falling into water negates all fall damage. Useful in a lot of places especially when building zip lines over water.

TIP 8 is a game breaker and should have come with a spoiler warning.

Fairly new at the game and I would say fishing is underrated. I think you can carry 3 at a time so everytime I go out near a pond I make sure to catch my fish and game limit for the day and hang them on the drying rack. I say underrated because they fill you up as much as any other animal and they are crazy easy to get and they don’t take a thousand arrows, great aim, and running all over a forest to catch.

Is there any major spoilers or game changing tips that will make normal to easy for a first time playthrough

I was wondering why they kept attacking me got worse and worse. It's cause everything they ran up on my I kept taking them down. Until despite being super beginner. I started getting later game mutants attacking me

I'm on my first ever playthrough glad to see you built your camp in the same place I did the cave right by me had a rusty axe and the rebreather glad I learned they attack more when we keep attacking them, I was confused Cuz it seemed every other day I'm getting attacked by loads of them. Built some walls around my camp which helped a lot.

I've just started playing, but I've wasted a lot of playing time because I haven't been able to save and reload progress, so I've had to start a new game each time.
Are in-game items like the campsite you mentioned, the only way to save the game or is there a more usual way? There's an option for "save" in the keybindings, but pressing the relevant key during gameplay has no effect. There seems to be no automatic save on exiting and when restarting pressing the "continue" key brings up a screen which only has "single Player", my player name, and slots 1 to 5, none of which are actionable.

edit: I tried again and made it to one of those campsites and could save in a slot, using the key nominated in the keybindings. I'm now guessing that really is the only way to save progress. Just wish the game had explained it. Thank you so much for explaining it though.

bonus tip I play the forest for a year now and I knew the hole map after a mounth by rote

Tip 22 after 10 days on the drying wrak the meet is going to be bad

tip 20 when you move in circels its longer just cut the trees

Tip 18 you need to light them

Tip 16 you can also take a hairspray can with youre lighter and flame dead bodys without building a fire and its faster

Don’t know why nobody said this but sleeping causes the enemies to become harder faster.
