ABANDOND SCAMMELL EXPLORER - "YOU WILL START!"

Great fun, it stirred a lot of great memories, I ran a Scammell Explorer for 22 yrs, the first few with a Meadows petrol in it. You got super lucky with the Mag, anything you want to know about the Meadows, specially carb tuning to get rid of popping, banging and backfiring just ask.

An eccentric marine engineer in a small NZ town where I once worked fitted a Gardner 6LW (diesel) engine in a mwb Land Rover ... " the noisiest LR in town" he used to boast. He had to extend the front end of the LR's engine bay by anything up to a metre, but that vehicle was an absolute beast for launching large marine vessels.
