The Real Reason Dark Phoenix Bombed At The Box Office

I'm just done with super hero franchises altogether. I prefer independent films these days. There's nothing creative and new about Super hero plot lines.

Dissapointing... X-Men Apocalypse is way much more better that this one...
I was hoping that Magneto will discover that Quicksilver is his son and he still has a daughter too.
I also expecting to see a small appearnace of little Scarlet Witch... Also expecting to see other students to see their powers but NONE!
Dissapointed that Quicksilver just had a small part in the show and Raven... I don't care about her she is obviously out of place in this movie they just added her to boost sells coz Jennifer Lawrence is a famous actress.
The final part is not that good too I'm expecting to see them in uniform but NONE again... What happened to their costume in the last scene of Apocalypse?!
Overall I'm disspointed about this movie... I think this is the end of this series....

The real reason...so many reasons

Sophie was better than this movie was. Green screen, cgi, sound design, acting, adr, writing, no art design, costumes. Somebody was paid to design those costumes?

Wow, this movie is GREAT! I don't like most every Marvel/DC movie (as I'm too deep of a comic fan/don't like dumb action stuff); but this movie shocked the hell out of me! One ultra comic geek guy in real life told me it was amazing...while I told them the internet said it was horrible. Well, yet another, and another, and another time the internet was WRONG! You're all a weird fucking simulation, internet "people."

The reason it bomb because there's less fighting for the phoenix.

I thought it was ok it sorta stuck to the story but in order for them to be successful they shoulda got with Chris Claremont and John Byrne and others who were the writers and artist of the original Uncanny X-Men Dark Phoenix Saga if you collected comics at this time period you know what I'm saying how the movies are jumping around in timelines and changing characters genders and appearances I guess anything to make movies maybe try and stick to the real story and stop messing around with things that were very successful

The reason the rebooted x-men flopped because of the decision of fox making mystique a hero personality all because they hired jennifer lawrence that was the first red flag but now x-men is in mcu so it'll probably e better i just hope marvel keep mcAvoy and fassbender and don't replace them

The story line sucked

I was just watching the movie for the first time until Mystique unnecessarily points out that the women seem to be doing all the saving and perhaps they should be called X-women. That was it for me. I have not seen the last few movies anyhow because I am weary of the teenage superhero thing. I collected the comics from issue 96 up and I do not recall them all being teenagers.

Horrible movie, horribly miscast. Watching it now and good grief is this bad.

Other than Logan, the series, comprised of the entire team, should've ended with Days of the Future Past. That movie was such a masterpiece, fixed the timeline, and would've been the perfect ending for the series.

I’m just sad the fact that we will never have another Phoenix saga movie by the MCU just because FOX want to make the same movie all over again🙄

They should have picked older actors to play Magneto, Xavier, Mystique and Beast. First Class was based in the 1960s and Apocalypse was in the 1980s but the actors NEVER AGE. THEY LOOK EXACTLY THE SAME. Also, they never stated what time period Dark Phoenix is based in, was it in the 90s or early 2000s?

Looper - you failed to answer your own question - but I will. The movie was poorly written and badly acted. I gave up after about 15 minutes of silliness and wooden "acting." Jennifer Lawrence and Sophie Turner were particularly bad. Based on their performances, if I was a producer, I wouldn't put them in anything more important than a TV commercial.

A big issue with this movie is the cast. Most of the actors appear bored (Lawrence), or unconvincing (Turner), or badly used (Chastain). And the ONLY ONE who's really good (Fassbender) appears at HALF of the entire movie. Not smart, no good move. So, a flop totally deserved... 💀💀👎👎👎

The Dark Phoenix saga is not a failure of a story in and of itself; quite the contrary, it's one of the more memorable and successful ones, up there with the Infinity Gauntlet/Wars, Executioner's Song, etc. Hopefully, you could differentiate stuff in the future. It's the adaptation and execution, you plebe.

Okay it wasnt the best x-men movie.......... but saying that it was on par with Fantastic 4 (2015) is stretching it...... at least with Dark Phoenix stuff actually happened and we somewhat care about some of the characters and even though some interactionswere off, they ay least put some effort in to it............whereas fantastic 4 didn't have any action until the last 30 mins. And even then there was barely any chemistry between the fantastic 4.....but it all depends on what you like and dont like 🤷🏾‍♂️

They treated Quicksilver horrible, he was a great addition in the first three movies and needed to have been included way more than he was. That actor Even Peters is fantastic as Quicksilver and the director/writer just shafted him totally. They definitely had a bent against the actor or something.

Raven's makeup in this was also very cheesy, like something from a CW TV show.

Apocolypse was even better than Dark Phoenix

I was wondering why they did this to the time line. Theyse are all the characters younger. It's still a prequel to Xmen 1 , 2, and 3. So in this prequel they kill off Phoenix.. then they kill her older self off again in Last Stand? Do writers/directors/producers even care about time lines or are they so selfish they only care about their own story at that particular time? So disappointed. I'm just watching all these movies and I hate everyone saying this has to be the end. It doesnt.. again they're all younger.. they can keep going with other stories. I hope they keep the same actors now if they bring them into the MCU. We're all going to be 50 and too old to care by the time that happens.
