How many parents? This parallels our family's story very closely. 10 years later, still trying to get our lives back.

I had a cannabis induced episode 5 years ago, was completely delusional and was like in hell. The doctors never realised or treated me for it. I had another episode 3 years later with stress. The last year and a half I've been trying medications but nothing is making me better. I hope they'll find something.

I could write a book on this but I'll just say that the potential harms should be more commonly known. If you're doing this stuff and it makes you feel bad then stop doing it now. If you're having second thoughts about trying it or if you or your parents have any mental health conditions then listen to the warning and stop. I did a lot of lsd too so it's hard to tell what caused my issues but I too had adhd when I was younger and shouldn't have been doing this stuff. Don't create hell for yourself!

Any goverment that legalise cannabis should be jailed!
It is shocking that they allow the young to take these drugs. It is seriously damaging to their health, and their brain. Their families. The goverments need to think clearly at what they are allowing. Because what they are doing is causing the young to have serious deficiency in their brains for their future adult life. So how on earth can they expect these individuals to hold down jobs, be successful, be rational. No one was born to take drugs!. It is not needed. How could a goverment think it's OK to damage their people? It's utter evil.
It has to stop. Because families are going through so much trauma.

I’ve had a similar experience..there is hope. It isn’t going to be an easy way out. It will take longer than you expect but I agree that the harsh diagnosis is sophistry. But regardless of diagnosis, it’s going to be a process of biblical proportion to get one’s life back. It may even take longer than 5 years and that’s ok. Your son can come out better and stronger than before these problems if you put your trust and faith in a true source of goodness and then make that a lifestyle! God Bless

I’ve had Cannabis psychosis at least 5 times and somehow I am still alive. This last time was the final wake up call for me. I cashed out all of my savings and investments and spent it all on stupid shit! I am now diagnosed bipolar disorder and am recovering from Cannabis psychosis and addiction for the rest of my life.

So sad, your Son was experiencing "Delusion of grandeur"
In this form of delusion, the person believes they are much greater or more influential than they really are. THC can trigger this type of delusion.

But how can one help an adult who feels this is their reality and refuses help?

Weed psychosis looks very similar to meth psychosis - and often doctors will treat you like a junky. Also often they misdiagnose you, and it takes many days to properly diagnose. In the mean time, you turn into drug experiment for big pharma, they start pumping all kinds of drugs into you to see what effect you have. Psychosis is basically very manic - its actually fun to be in psychosis because you have this amazing surge of dopamine. The problem is - that said person doesnt understand they are in psychosis. And they can do great damage to themselves or others. Even cause death.

Yeah I got psychotic off weed - smoked a whole bowl in 2001 - just flower. Smoked too fast. Sister got schizophrenia after smoking tons of weed in '95. It isn't JUST the concentrated stuff - they've known for decades it can trigger psychosis and schizophrenia. Many will say, "Oh it must have been laced" and that's obviously not the case. It seems weed is far more liable for psychosis than psychedelics.

There is Harvard Psychiatrist claiming to be able to actually heal patients with psychosis type illnesses by having them eat a Ketogenic diet. He did some brain scans on those patients and in many cases the damage was reversed just doing that.
I think it is worth a shot.

Wish you could interview him or another psychiatrist about cannabis and possible ways to heal from damage from it.

People repeatedly tell me that you cannot develop psychosis from cannabis use. I have first hand, up close experience with someone suffering extreme psychosis, schizoaffective disorder after smoking cannabis excessively. She has suffered for five long years while the mental health community says there’s nothing they can do for her. She must pursue psychiatric treatment on her own. This is not possible when you are suffering with chronic psychosis.

My 16-year-old son is currently in a psych ward for the second time in less than 6 months. He is saying the most vile and outright evil things to his father and I. It's extremely hard to hear the things coming out of his mouth. I'm fasting and praying for God to give me strength and wisdom because I honestly feel like I'm in a fog. They are recommending he goes to a dual-diagnosis residential home. I just don't know which program will be the best for him. The last one was a joke. I feel for all the parents out there. ❤

Related to this superiority thing with THC vs other drugs, I found it quite interesting to learn that Pablo Escobar wasn't using Cocaine but rather Cannabis was his drug of choice. I guess, he was having a severe Cannabis induced psychosis to think he would rule the world by his violence and terror acts.
