I think a significant part of companies decision to build nuclear plants is that they do not have confidence in the ability of the US to maintain and expand the existing infrastructure to support future needs, so they will have access to energy while the rest of us suffer brown outs.

The involvement of tech giants like Microsoft and Amazon in nuclear energy development has several significant implications:
By investing in nuclear energy, these companies are advancing their commitments to achieving carbon neutrality. Nuclear power is a reliable, low-carbon energy source that can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Their involvement can drive innovation in nuclear technology, particularly in the development of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs). These reactors are more flexible, safer, and can be deployed more quickly than traditional reactors.
Increased investment in nuclear energy can enhance energy security by diversifying the energy mix and reducing dependence on fossil fuels. This is crucial for maintaining stable and reliable energy supplies.
The development and deployment of new nuclear technologies can create jobs and stimulate economic growth. This includes opportunities in construction, engineering, and technology sectors.
As major corporations invest in nuclear energy, they may also influence energy policies and regulations, potentially leading to more favorable conditions for nuclear energy development.
For companies like Microsoft and Amazon, which operate large data centers, nuclear energy can provide a stable and sustainable power source to meet their growing energy demands.
These implications highlight the potential for significant advancements in energy sustainability and security, driven by the involvement of leading technology companies.

The hypocrisy of western nations. Discarding nuclear waste is much messier than we are led to believe, its not 100% safe and not at all eco friendly. They better not lecture us on coal and petroleum

I believe that this sounds quite promising not only in terms of green energy but also for our future space explorations. Nuclear power is the best we have got so far, and we chronically need more developments in the area to take this technology a step forward. If we ever want to explore other planets and we want to have a sustainable plan for future space exploration nuclear energy is the way to go.
