I have two of these I've been tooling on here and there. One is exactly like this one same color same gold flake in the tank same bars, the other has those tall bars like the old school banana seat bike's were they sweep back and the seat is cloth not leather like this one, hard to determine Heritage or Special or Special 2 or just plain jane XS400 Maxim, both 1982 with the DOHC motor both run just haven't tried to ride them yet, black one like this only has a little over 2k miles the other has around 11k. Any way to determine the model trim ? ( Heritage / Special / Special 2 ) information along the web is very unclear and misleading at times
ОтветитьIn 1986, I wanted a Yamaha 250 but the guy who had an overflowing warehouse of "non-current" bikes in Miami Fl, didn't have any. He offered me instead a brand new but "non-current" 400 Maxim for around $1200! How can I resist??? Back then I wasn't much interested in bike details, all this to say, I didn't even notice that the rear suspension was a mono lever type which will become the standard rear suspension type many many years latter! I think Yamaha was the first to introduce that type of rear suspension with the 1974 YAMAHA YZ360B monoshock rear suspension.
ОтветитьMy first bike I bought for about $1200 CAD from the dealership back in 82…wish I still had it
ОтветитьI had a brand new one when I was 14. Loved it
