I also have the experience that those "wouldn't it be funny if I destroyed x thing" moments, where people pull some prank that just leaves you mad at the prankster, don't happen as frequently with local multiplayer as it does online.

The part that local multiplayer in this video is that it isn’t gone at least in countries like Cuba like that’s the only way to play with friends and me and my brother played s game that now he refuses to play and it’s Minecraft and we played local multiplayer and now he doesn’t.

The lack of local multiplayer is super frustrating. I can't afford to pay for online subscriptions and even if I could it's much easier or organize face to face hangout time that over the net hang out time. Because it's "easy" to sit down on a screen, separately, at home, its also easy to blow off.

There's no comparing the social reward for play against someone in the same room.

I’m not too mad about the lack of couch play in most games, I’m mad about couch play not being in games made for co op. Like the new Wolfenstein is online only. What if I want to play with my family? Sigh.

My step brother still yells and rages when playing with local multiplayer.

At very least, LAN multiplayer is a must. Pretty much every game without split-screen requires the online gaming platform connection, and it's bloody ridiculous!

I hate it how call of duty restricts local multiplayer to only 2 people of the PS4. When I was a teenager, I remember so many times when my friends had brought enough controllers for 4 people but we had to take turns for 2 players at a time. And online play was also barred because of the whole "pay to play online" thing.

i don't get why people are mean over the internet. i'm just as nice over the internet because i understand that there's a person with feeling on the other side of the screen.

someday the companies gonna realize they need yo remove 2 player mode in fighting games. hahaha... someday they gonna sell AI of enemies as a DLC... sad

Watching this video nowadays mades me appreciate that the Switch has 2 joycons that can be used for 2 people. Playing local multiplayer in Switch is fantastic.

As someone who didn't have a lot of friends growing up, I often had to play videogames with my brother. And you know what? We're incredibly close now, especially after all those nights challenging each other to smash and mortal kombat.

I absolutely agree with this message. I forged some of my closest friendships over 100's of hours playing the early 2000's Medal of Honor games on the GameCube, and later the GoldenEye remake on the Wii. And it saddens me greatly that so few FPS games have local multi-player anymore. Yes, other genres are decent at including it, but when was the last time you could play a AAA FPS locally with friends (seriously, let me know, I haven't seen and if I'm missing one please let me know, I would love to be wrong)?
