This is what you get when liberal leftist Hollywood take an intellectual property, twist it beyond recognition, virtually keeping only the name in order to get viewership ratings. the first 5 minutes of episode 1 you have 2 black men pushed into your face and a transvestite that is being made out to be a nice fun character ... don't waste your time!

It was jarring. REALLY jarring... But I liked it

Honestly, I was happy they took it in a totally different direction. The books started to get repetitive by the 20th one you read, and you got too familiar with the tangential way things were written.

The "features" were good adaptations, but felt very dated in an 80's/90's warm and fuzzy BBC way.

On its own, this felt more serious, yet had its moments, and the jokes were still there, despite lacking a narrator to explain the overly convoluted narrative tangents.

I liked the punk rock aesthetic, and its more irreverent tone. Although I missed certain characters (nobbs and colon, the golem who joins later, and a whole host of other characters), it still had a lot of parts from the books (and a few lines), despite being very different.

The cast was small, and the show stumbled at parts, but I would give it a few seasons before saying whether or not it was worth the time.

Honestly, the fans that want everything represented by the book and nothing changed will probably end up killing this series... And to be honest, that same dogmatic attitude is why despite reading 28 of the first 30 books, I can say that if you read 1, you read them all.

Whoever made this needs to be beaten repeatedly with blunt objects.

How on earth or disc *wink wink ... can someone screw this up? If they didn't like reading, they got a good example of the tv-movie the colour of magic...

Wow...a swing and a big miss. I have been reading and re-reading Pratchett's Disk World for about ten years now. And I like to think I am open minded enough to entertain a "fresh" approach to the series (I understand Sir P was a big fan of imagination) But to cast Vimes as a street thug? YIKES. To flip off the Patrician? No nuance at all and light years from what the pen produced. Read the books. Even some of the movies are well done (going postal comes to mind). This is garbage.

I just finished watching, I didn't know anything about the series, I really like it, kudos to the actors, love the band and was really happy to know that it was all them playing the instruments, funny, heartwarming and filmed in Africa, great stuff.

if you removed discworld from it.. it doesn't look too bad. But it wants to be discworld and thats where it fails. if you don't respect or understand the source..write youre own story. that way it could have been good. Instead they tried living off an already known work.

This looks as tone deaf as the latest Hellboy movie, also has some of its punk rock aesthetics and weird color paletts.
Just could not leave it alone and just make a more noir looking detective show set in Ankh Morpork, had to change the formula to make something nobody really wants.

I have read Discworld for a long time and yes this is more a "based on" version rather than an attempt to be 100% accurate.
That said it is still a great series with some really good casting and fun writing. Too bad we won't get a new series because to many people were upset with it being forward thinking.

SOMEONE SHOULD HANG! THIS IS A TRAGEDY

Just stumbled across this. While i really disliked....well...all movie adaptations of Sir Terry Pratchetts works into movie form, this one takes the biscuit. I'm not sure which book this is supposed to even be! The Dragon was Guards Guards, Detritus the troll didn't become a watchman until men at arms (book 2), Cheery the dwarf arrived in feet of clay (book 3!). More over, "Vimes" is shown as both drinking and smoking, Vimes took up smoking to stop drinking (not exactly better to modern eyes but that is canon). I prefer the costumes and setting of this but the cast, the acting and the story all look terrible.

This is clearly a treason but... surprisingly, it's actually good ! I love it !

if you have to "adapt" this much just make something new and give credit to the books as inspiration!

I don't know anything about this Pritchett fellow but I really loved this show and I'm sad it's not getting a 2nd season :(

watched it all. crazy, funny, weird, enjoyable.
its not even close to as good as the books they are taking from.
i wouldn’t mind a 2nd season
i would much rather have any terry pratchet book turned into a movie.
