Would it really have been desert sand where they lived at that time?

1) Could feathers helped to reach higher running speeds or helping the tail to work better as a sail while pursuing prey, like the cheetah? 2) What about the penguin waterproof feathers to move fast underwater? It could be cool to see a raptor swimming underwater as a penguin. 3) What about seasonal feathers? Maybe they were very active in winter.
That topic could be a whole episode in its own, very mysterious.

I looked threw the comments. Nobody seemed to wonder. What happened to cause the two to die and become fossilized, while they were fighting for their lives.

What a beutiful man you are! Sorry, I´m not hitting on you, but damn, you´re face is aestichally pleasing - its all the dinosaur study, no doubt - their beauty falls over onto us. Keep up the good work! I´ve been interested in dinosaurs since before I could read or write, and I will never lose this interest. Your channel is the best! Way to go brother. And take good care of yourself.

in 17.16 it's said about an undescribed sauropod.

Is the photo picturing this statement just a visual background or is it about this particular species in that photo?

Because if it's the latter then for a fact I can confirm it's Opisthocoelicaudia skarzynskii (or possibly Nemegtosaurus as there's a debate ongoing whether these 2 are separate genuses) which is frankly one of the better studies sauropod species (altough it's really not much known in popular culture) due to one decently complete skeleton and few others less complete.

Furthermore skeleton from the photo is at display in Museum of Evolution in the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw in Poland. I've been there so I recognised it and thus my question. Because in fact Opisthocoelicaudia didn't coexist with Velociraptor as both of those genuses are found in different geological formations and are separated time wise (altough they come VERY close in that regard but still haven't been found overlapping)

Dont you reckon the fossil find of the protoceratops and the velociraptor to be quite unique tho? I kinda feel like we cant apply the tactic of the raptor putting itself in a compromising position just to get an angle at the throat and neck to all vilociraptor attacks. I think that those fossils are somewhat unique as the raptor was rather getting its ass handed to itself, and in more of a defensive position and striking at whatever it could, rather than where it truly wanted to. I still think raptors went for a cassowary style kick and thrust with that massive toe-claw digging in and gouging the body cavity to harm anything it could which would compromise the target prey animal. But thats just my opinion from seeing how cassowarys utilize their toe-claw, and guessing, or rather assuming, that that's how dinosaurs with very similar weaponry would do things.

The feathered arms would have been quite useful in stabilizing running and jumping.
We humans use the arm pendulum effect to great benefit while running - and we cant even push against the air with them all that well.
A quick runner on two feet will be able to save himself from a lot of tumbles with such fast-adjustable spoiler arms.

Thanks to this video you have a new Subscriber. Thanks for the informative and entertaining videos.
I do want to mention that in one of the newest Jurassic park movies, aka Jurassic world, The doctor who synthesized the Dinosaur genomes did mention that the genomes were incomplete and that by splicing the DNA of living animals and adding chameleon as well as frog DNA they weren't truely recreating the dinosaurs but creating all new species. Although he didn't say it that way he did admit that the Velociraptor and T-Rex were feathered in reality unlike their spliced recreations. That is something I greatly appreciated since the movies reflected real life discoveries.

For the record, DNA cloning and resurrection is science, not history. So the fact that its sci-fi and its a book makes it ok if the timelines were off. But they should have used the Utah raptor.

I think they just switched the names, because yes, Velociraptor was smaller and etc. But the actual dinosaur that fell under the description of the Jurassic park/world's so called "Velociraptor" is the one called Utahraptor Ostrommaysi. It was closer to the body sizes shown in the movies, had WAY more similarities in the skull structure and yare yare yare.
They just swapped the name cuz Velociraptor sounds cooler than Utahraptor ig 💀
There's also a theory that utahs had little to no feathers, though I believe they did have the same amount as velos did

Something Iv always wondered about when scientists find these remains in the ground is how do you know that damage to the specimen happened when it was alive. It’s buried under a large amount of material. Can’t the weight of dirt and rock make it look like a fracture?

Fun fact: While Crichton did indeed use the name Velociraptor instead of Deinonychus, the Utahraptor was discovered DURING the filming of Jurassic Park & was used as the basis for the raptors in the film!
