I am Indian-American academic, and this is unprecedented. I am sure this is illegal. But I also think Indian ministers like PM Modi, should have a word about this. International students contribute to up to $41 billion annually so this will not be good.

This decision is stupid, but I also didn't understand the stupid students who went for studies and indulged into Free-Palestine propaganda (not stop war but free Palestine) they forgot about all the Indian history of what Mughals did in India killing millions of Hindu men, women and children and destroying our culture and temples. Because of these rogue students the genuine ones who wanted to study will suffer.

Why are Indian students at Harvard when the government boasts of the best post graduate institutions anywhere in the world. Maybe you should talk to people like Modi, Shashi Tharoor, Rahul Gandhi and many others.

You have to know who Trump is!
Trump has been upset that lots of non-whites are getting the privilege of this education.
Like immigration he wants whites only. That is why he deported brown and black, but took in white South African immigrants.
The fees are very high no doubt but to be honest there are very few pay the full fees. Most are on a scholarship of some kind. A lot international students pay almost nothing. A lot of the Indian students pay nothing at all. This was not the case in the past. In the past a lot of colleges did not allow scholarships for international students. But in the last decade or more international students are getting scholarships and pay no fees. The US government is then left picking up the costs. Since these universities do get millions in private donations, these colleges are able to get by without having to collect fees from international students. Lots of programs that used to be only for American students is now open to international students which surprised me. Like Veterinary or Dentistry was only for American students but now allows international students and provides scholarships as well.
I know that most professionals that teach at these universities are the hard-core liberals. They have been dissatisfied with how the American government's policies to Outsiders has been for a long time. They saw it as unjust and discriminatory. They are taking a stand and treating international students on eqal grounds as Americans. This has angered conservatives and now the Trump administration who see these as American institutions that are meant for Americans first.

Most international students in the USA & Canada are either Chinese or Indian. As per most universities almost 50% are Chinese & 40% are Indians. The rest of the world is just 10%. So the students currently studying are going to loose heavily because of a madman.

The American late night show hosts like Jimmy Kimmel finally seem to be getting it. He will act dramatically, courts will push back etc, then some compromise/midway state will be reached.

It is amusing to see Indians commenting on the US government's decision. It's their country, and it is their rule. The US is not obligated to admit students from India (or any country). Indians are talking as if it is their right to study in the US - the right to a US education.

Good Day Madam, Hope All Is Well At Your Side !!! Honestly speaking, what Trump is doing right for Indians especially who are applying H1B/Student visa. Indians go to US on H1B/Student visas and don't want to come back after their project/study finishes. Indians stay there even without job. They work in shops like McDonald etc. as waiter/coolie. These same people don't to work in India as waiter in McDonald etc. Because of this attitude, now in America, there are around 7-8 million Indians living illegally. What a shame for India as a country??? There are good universities in India. what about them? Then why Indians go to US for study by taking 1 crore loan, which is big headache to re-pay. In India, you can get good degree in 10lac rupees. Think about it. I agree, India has got issues like population & pollution. Please provide your honest opinion on this illegal issue of Indians. Waiting for reply, Thanks & Regards, Ganapati 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
