In this clip, HIV/AIDS community advocate and photographer Luna Luis Ortiz remembers the impact of HIV on the NYC House and Ballroom community during the 1980s and early 1990s.
ABOUT THE PORTRAITS PROJECT:
The Portraits Project is a multi-platform project that documents the lives of a cross-section of Black and Latino Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender people.
The first installation of the Portraits Project features HIV positive Black and Latino gay men and captures the early onset of the AIDS epidemic, the intersections of race, sexuality, and status, and challenges the notions about what it means to be young, gay, of color and HIV positive in the 21st century.
