Coming from a "retired" wrecker operator, that is a very well thought out and extremely versatile setup. Before I ran heavy, I ran the smaller trucks, usually didn't tow very many away. Always tried to get them running. I had a rollback that had all toolboxes along the underside, and they got used Alot. It was basically a toolbox that could even haul plywood.😂😂😂
Most people don't realize how much a big wrecker weighs. I ran a jerr dan 25 ton with the fiberglass body on it. Just as heavy as the steel beds because of all the equipment we carry with us.
And now that I'm just a driver, I have a sleeper truck that I don't sleep in, it's all storage for tools, I don't quite fit in a kw 38 inch sleeper anyway. I run a lot of offroad deliveries, gotta have everything I need to get out of situations I come across on the daily.
Do you ever need your height measuring stick when you are hauling with your trailers?
ОтветитьFor the chocks on the fuel tank... Harbor Freight has 3 x12 rubber traction peel n stick pads. Everone now happy😊
ОтветитьYes, that seems to be good!
Ответитьshould of had ur assitant filming so they would know where stuff is
;--)
Thanks for the tour Casey. Your tools and equipment are set up for the type of work you do as it should be. I was looking at that headache rack and thinking it needed another shelf to put that stuff on so you could have your microwave back but not sure where the Delta would fit. I hope the new setup works well for you.
ОтветитьThanks for the tour and keep the videos coming.
ОтветитьVery Nice Setup now that the tools are on the truck so you won't be without something you need when the ZackLift is detached I would add a lock out kit to the truck though
ОтветитьDo you keep extra glad hands on your truck? I load trucks at Volvo construction equipment, and I get a truck every other week ripping their lines off.
ОтветитьThanks for the tour. Do you have any idea how much all this stuff weights?
ОтветитьShe blinded my with Science.
ОтветитьDid you remove the lid off the U S General toolbox? If you did, I can see why.
ОтветитьYou really should have dedicated tools in your shop, don't be so cheap and bye some shop tools.
ОтветитьNice arraingment. Maybe you have it in the Western Star, but surprised you don't have a charge station for the tool batteries (connected to an inverter that only operates when the engine is running). I know myself, even if I had 6 batteries that stayed in the truck, I would grab the dead one (maybe twice with my luck).
Also if you had a charging station, it would allow you to warm up a battery(s) in the winter, instead of burning capacity with the battery warm function that Milwaukee and others program in the battery.
I wish I had your level of expertise at organizing
ОтветитьThat air hammer is a great idea I’m going to put one in each of my trucks for winter
ОтветитьHave you thought about adding any speedy dry for small cleanups? I used to carry a 5 gallon bucket just for basic breakdown leaks
ОтветитьAre your new tool boxes water tight?
ОтветитьCasey I see nothing wrong with the way you have things set up, as you said you are not the same as other tow operators but I think you are awesome and very knowledgable I can't wait for the recovery with the tracked vehicle.
ОтветитьI've "redone" my woodworking shop 6 times in 14 years. Pretty much the same tools, just came up with a "better" layout and storage solutions. My wife figures I will be back to the original layout in the next couple of years...hahaha. Great video, thanks for sharing.
ОтветитьI’m buying air hammer asap winter coming & trailer brakes are going to lock up..
ОтветитьOne thing you didn't cover, and I frequently wonder about; is how do you keep your power tool batteries charged. You always check them and they always seem to have enough charge in them, and I wonder, how is that possible. I haven't seen a dedicated charger in the truck, so you must rotate charging batteries out of the truck. You must have a method to keep track.
ОтветитьYou can never have too many zip ties or duct tape on the side of the road...
ОтветитьHow about some stacks on the star
ОтветитьSo do you have a on-board battery charging station? I always see you pull a battery to use and they are full, but where do you charge them. Thanks Casey
ОтветитьThank goodness for Harbor Frieght (HF). Honestly, I've broken more Craftsman hand tools than I have HF (not the cheapest stuff). And trying to find a place to get a Craftsman replacement, good luck -- while I've found Harbor Freight stores pretty much all over the country. As for battery-operated tools, I have decades of experience with DeWalt, not switching. I do own a variety of HF air tools. They work great for the price. As for shop supplies? What a fantastic toy store. Hopefully, HF throws some sponsorship $ your way!
ОтветитьMost important question of all where’s your microwave set up bruh you need to eat
ОтветитьI like to have my most used tools on the passenger side. That way him only walking on traffic side when needed.
Also I only saw one impact in the truck. That’s all used to carry. Then in the middle of a call mine stopped working. I used torque sticks so had to do it by hand with no torque. Bought the new Milwaukee 1/2” the next day which has more power then the old one and more lights. Brought the older one in to Milwaukee they fixed it for free cause it was about two years old. Was something electrical. I also bought the covers for both of the impacts keeps them looking good. Also lots of air tool oil might be needed in the cold weather.
Here is a idea, not sure if it is doable but what if you put small toolbox that mounts to the bottom of the headache rack box right above the fuel tank. Not like a large but but kinda the same width and then how ever deep you want. Just to give you a little more box space. Then you might be able to get you eco-flow and microwave back.
ОтветитьI hope the new setup works well for you. I did not notice if you had your drive line bag of tools or not. O thought that was a good idea
ОтветитьAs a bit of an OCD organizer myself, I'm very impressed with your strategy on what to put where. Bummer you had to remove the microwave, but a cold sandwich tastes good when you're hungry!
ОтветитьGee awe shucks. If it wasn’t for the tube nobody would know your name. You didn’t invent anything, you didn’t cure cancer. Quit pretending.
ОтветитьHey Casey, I was thinking it would be cool if you were able to store the Zack lift wheel grids on the truck. What about a mount for them where the legs store?
Also you were talking about using the flat top dolly you’re going to build to possibly transport shipping containers. I bet you can have Zack lift make an adapter for you to grab the corner pockets on containers with your under reach.
Did I hear Casey right ... Carina needs a CDL license ??
ОтветитьNew toolboxes look great. Nice to take everything out and re organize everything to the way it works best for you.
ОтветитьYou could rig up a shelf up in ur bunk to put ur microwave and fridge in
ОтветитьI like the new loadout. Very well thought out, but you're right, you won't know until you use it. IMPORTANT question, however, did you remember to duplicate some of your tools over to the rollback?! You were annoyed with yourself a couple times now (and maybe a few more off camera) for not having the same tool selection in both trucks.
ОтветитьHow much dose all the gear weigh
ОтветитьI like your changes to the mobile shop set up Casey, from watching your videos all the time, i pride myself on knowing where you are going to get a certain tool for your job, on a different note Casey you did a short on taking the haggland to a place where there were a lot of those rigs I'm hoping that your able to tell us about that place sometime thx 👍
ОтветитьI would love to see you try to use a variety of fuels to test the maximum thrust from cheaper fuels.
This video was such simple genius, and even if this isn't the final way to improve rockets, you're making such quick progress that there's no doubt you'll master it.
With adding the side drawers, it looked like the sockets could be turned the other way, and add a few more dividers.. Then Id of put some of the common bits / air fittings you prefer be it brass or plastic in the remaining space in the drawer. Also personally Id of looked for a way to fit a mini sized unit for Eco flow in the headache rack and kept the microwave putting the hoses around it or building a shelf over top the hoses and putting the rest of the fittings / bits / accessories on top...
ОтветитьYou didn't show the roll back tool boxes...
I guess another video is needed...
Great job Casey. Thank you 😊
ОтветитьYou need to move to the future. I got rid of my spot x sattelite communicator, I switched to a starlink mini. You have internet service anywhere you can see the sky.
ОтветитьHi from Canada. I worked for western star deal (& other truck shops). I’ve never seen a bunk with out at least one outside door. How do you or can you use the space under the bed? Humm.
ОтветитьAY glad to see you added the air hammer, I'm the one that commented a few months back on your video titled "BIG tow means BIG bill💰 Or does it??" suggesting it for helping to remove driveshafts, but the seized brakes seems like an even better use for it! Hope it serves you well on future jobs
Ответитьhey I found the box video!
odd it never popped up before.
