I recently watched this video and tried to look up Metroid Mcfly.
Nothing exists of his speedruns today. It's fine that he decided to quit speedrunning if it was getting to him, but I find it sad that the vods of the man who took whole minutes off this speedrun is now no longer found. Hopefully, he comes back.

Hey Summoning Salt. Newish subscriber, and just want to say I love all of your videos. Even the ones on games I haven't played are enjoyabel to watch because of how well done your videos are. I was also wondering if you would consider doing a video on the world record progression of Ocarina of Time. I know your friend made a video on it a few years ago, but I would love an updated one from you. Thank you for what you do!

Heh... I've seen Dragondarch do a 100% on SGDQ about 10 or so years ago. Makes me feel like a turtle on my cas' runs lol

I've also knew about doorjumping since childhood. No lie. I remember trying to use it everywhere to find hidden areas.

Is there an update to this now all these years later?

I think an official or referee should be the ONLY ones able to see the footage for at least a few months before releasing footage. Instead, it’s released and the next competitor can steal/use strategies he/she may not have known about.

Am I glad that you censor these runners now. Hearing F-bombs out of every runner shown in this just bothers me; it's really not needed, even in a "positive" sense.

As of the posting of this comment, the (NES) Metroid WR is held by a newcomer (not in the video) CHX42 (USA). With a time of 9m 12s 150ms.

CHX42 is one of three runners with a time that is sub 10m, as of this comment.

Metroid McFly is my favorite speedrunner, glad to see that this is basically a tribute video to him.

Man I always hated how years ago people who knew nothing about speed running, would watch a single speedrun of their favorite game and called them a cheater without any idea of how skilled they are.

Also makes me think of BxR, RRX, and BxB in Halo 2. People complained about those too.

I can't stand speedruns with major glitches! It ruins the game and isn't enjoyable. Small glitches are annoying but don't break the immersion like major glitches do.

Metroid is my favorite character, he is a robot man who fights aliens. Super cool. 🥲

The f in 8-but Danger Zone killed me. Inwas like i know that tune then the chorus came in.

I checked the Any% Deathless leaderboard today and now 7 players have a sub-15. Apparently MetroidMcFly privated his account or something because there's a gray "Anonymous" with no sign of "MetroidMcFly" anywhere.

As for the current world record, it goes to CHX42 with 10m 52s as the only sub-11 player right now

I like how skipping Ridley is so common that the "Kraid first" trick means you fight Kraid before getting even a single missile upgrade, but apparently the early runs were all "glitchless."

Was never impressed by the door jump. It adds nothing to the speed run except glitches. So what's the point? Yes it lowered the number, so do outright hacks or cheats. Doesn't add anything to the game.

you would have to say i hope data miners get banned from speed runs for 6 months!, the organic approach vs bots is just less interesting, no glitch hunters justs bots like bitcoin crawlers deserve not praise!
