I think a scene that helps a bit with John not mentioning Arthur in RDR1 is in RDR2 Abigail tells Jack that John doesn’t like talking about Arthur. (Probably painful memories) and John also mentions to someone (can’t remember who) That he doesn’t talk about Arthur much, but he still thinks about him.

The best part of RDR2 for me, is in one of the camp conversations (I think with Karen) when he talks about feeling like he is crazy and he is not in control of his actions. It brings up a great life comparison of Do we truly have free will?
Arthurs awareness that his actions might not even be his own is very interesting. We as the player, know he has no free will, in the context of the game we are a 4th dimensional being, making all his choices, good and bad.
How do we know, that we are not the same in what we describe as the "real world" - if there is a God or greater being above us, we are nothing but game characters and NPC's our choices, pre-determined or controlled ultimately making our illusion of free-will a joke.
We know some players prefer to act in a terrible manner, causing chaos and atrocities in an attempt at personal catharsis, we know other players like to live out their fantasies of Heroism and Altruism that due to their circumstances they could never accomplish in their day-to-day lives....but if we are just characters in someone else's video game, we are just the avatars of even greater beings looking for their own escapism. A sobering thing to contemplate.

I thought I'd never see someone actually talk about red dead revolver, love that game the dead eye mechanic felt so ahead of it's time when I played it as a kid.

Beaver hollow is a necessary evolution of the story but I can’t help but feel depressed during this chapter. I’m the type that does chores everyday, I’m absurdly methodical with each chapter, exploring for hours and hours before progressing. I can’t help but fully immerse myself in the world and the gang. I even have an outfit that look like pajamas to sleep in lol. That’s why the dread and emptiness around the camp in beaver hollow always bugs me. Nothing to do, nobody to really talk to, it’s beautifully depressing

I think a big upgrade to the channel would be getting some ambient music in the background. Would really improve the overall sound experience
